October 1st-7th 2007 October 5th, 2007  FLYERS-5,  Panthers-2Flyer start season on a high note with a 5-2 win over the Florida Panthers. Patrick Kane scored his first goal as a Flyers and also picked up an assist. Giroux, Carter, Richards, Lupul, and Kane scored for the Flyers while Stillman and Pahlsson beat Niittymaki for the Panthers. October 7th, 2007 FLYERS-3,  Penguins-4 SOThe Flyers stumbled vs the Penguins giving up a 3-1 lead after the first period. The game was a PK type of game with the Flyers killing 10/12 and the Pens 7/9. The game went into a shootout where Malkin scored the lone goal, while Fleury stopped Richie, Carts, and Gags. Rob Blake scored his first goal with a rocket from the pioint off a cross-ice pass from Kane. Crosby and Malkin were held pointless until Malkin scored in the SO. Derek Morris left late in the second with a sprained wrist, he'll be out for a week. Bret Hedican will take his place. NHL NEWS -Islanders claimed Glen Metropolit off the waivers from Chicago. -Calgary Flames' Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf were awarded the NHL Best Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Award, respectively. Iginla played 2 games scoring 3 Goals and assisting on 5 goals. Phaneuf Assisted on 6 Goals with 5 coming from the 6-0 Blowout vs Nashville. *Richards has 4 points in 2 games Jet...if he keeps that up he'll have 164 Lol!!!! He had 109 Last year. so 120 seems pretty reasonable to me. lol |

October 8th-14th, 2007 October 10th, 2007 FLYERS-8, Penguins-3Talk about a statement. After the Penguins beat the Flyers 2 nights ago in Pittsburgh, the Flyers stomp the Penguins in Philly 8-3. 2nd Period the game got out of time with the Flyers scoring 6 goals in a matter of 4:13, Parent started it with his first of the year a laser from the point, but then Claude Giroux scored 3 goals in rapid succession followed by Richards netting 2. Giroux's first goal he deked Souray into the ice and executed a perfect give-and-go with Lupul, strangley enough the 2nd goal was almost exactly the same as the 1st. The hat trick goal was off a sweet pass from Carter. Richards scored 2 PP goals after former-Flyer Aaron Asham went off for a 2+2 High-Sticking Penalty. Lupul(0-4), Gagne(2-2), Richards(2-2), and Giroux(4-0) all had 4 Points. Parent is out 1 week after suffering a Shoulder Contussion during Practice. October 12th, 2007 FLYERS-6,  Devils-2Another fantastic game. Coach Heitz has this team clicking now. The Carter-Giroux-Lupul(CGL) line is on fire. Carter got 4 assists this game. The Defense are chipping in too as Timonen scored his 1st of the year. Gagne continues with his scoring ways by netting another 2 Goals. He caused both goals by his speed, speeding around defensemen to get on mini-breakaways for both goals. October 14th, 2007 FLYERS-3,  Sabres-1Defense wins championships and so does Goaltending. Niity stopped 28 of 29 shots and the defense played great. Mike Richards suffered a serious Injury and will be out for 4 months. He tore his UCL after a hit by Brewer, though he was serious injured he still managed to score the 3rd goal. This injury causes a serious problem for GM Ritt and Coach Heitz. Kane scored a goal but not before he left Henrik Tallinder's jock strap in the rafters. Conroy added the other goal, but the loss of they're Captain is hard to swallow. NHL Weekly Report: -Phoenix Coyotes' Robert Esche was claimed off the waivers by Nashville -San Jose traded it's 3rd round pick to the Islanders for Raymond Giroux. - Blue Jackets' Fredrik Modin was named the NHL Offensive Player of the Week. Modin played 2 Game, scoreing 3 goals and assisting on 4 other goals. -Canadiens' Carey Price was named the Defensive Player of the Week, playing in 2 games winning both and one was a shutout. |

October 15th-21st, 2007 October 15th, 2007 With Mike Richards being injured the Flyers are rumored to be looking at Matthew Lombardi from Chicago. While this may be true or not the Flyers have called up Patrick Thoresen to center the 4th line. Simon Gagne has been named Captain with Timonen and Coburn named Assistants. October 16th, 2007 FLYERS-6,  Islanders-2Even without thier Captain the Flyers still managed to blow the Islanders(3-1-0). Gagne and Lupul didnt miss a step as each scored 2 goals apiece. Brind'Amour took the 2nd line and didnt look back with 1G(SHG) and 2 Assists. Defense is still holding strong which is great considering Parent still hasn't recover from his injury. October 18th, 2007 FLYERS-7,  Blues-3Patrick Kane got his first hat trick as a Flyers to put the Blues away early in the third. Another 4 point night for Kane, Carter, Lupul, and Gagne. These 4 are incredible. especially the CLK line. Coburn was injured early in the 2nd when he was hit with the puck. He'll be out a few days. The trade with Chicago was approved so Matthew Lombardi is now a Flyer. He'll Suit up next game probably on the 3rd line. Thoresen will be sent back down. October 21st, 2007 FLYERS-6,  Maple Leafs-4Toronto made it tricky towards the end but Niittymaki held. 2 quick PP goals by Toronto narrowed the score to 4-3 but Carter and Gagne both scored their 2nd of the night to put the game out of reach. Jokinen scored twice including a PP goal with 5 minutes left. Gagne has 6 goals in the last 3 games. Giroux suffered bruised ribs from a hit from Antropov and will be out a few days. NHL Weekly News: -Flyers aquired Matthew Lombardi from Chicago for 3 picks in this years draft. -Fabian Brunnstrom signed a contract with the New York Rangers. -NHL Named Daniel Alfredsson the Offensive Player of the Week (2GP-1G-7A) -Sergei Zubov was named the Defensive Player of the Week(3GP-0G-6A) |

October 22nd-28th, 2007 October 25th, 2007 FLYERS-2,  Thrashers-1 OTThe Thrashers managed to out-shoot the Flyers by a 31-25 difference. Niittymaki was up to the challange and then Blake and Brind'Amour scored PP goals, with Brind'Amour's coming in OT to move the Flyers win streak to 7 Games. Patrick Kane was Injured late in the 2nd from a collision with Orszagh. He'll be out a week with a shoulder injury. October 28th, 2007 FLYERS-2,  Stars-3Well the streak is ended at 7. The Dallas Stars and Marty Turco stiffled the Flyers comeback late in the 2nd after jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Gagne scored twice back-to-back to spark the Flyers but they couldn't get anything by Turco. 2 Powerplay goals by Dallas were the deciding factor. 10 Powerplays for Dallas didnt help the Flyers chances while Dallas only commited 3 Penalties. NHL Weekly News -Coyotes traded their 4th Round pick to the Florida Panthers for Rhett Warrener. -Offensive Player of the Week is Canucks' Miroslav Satan (2GP-5G-2A) -Defensive Player of the Week was Avalanche Zdeno Chara (2GP-0G-4A) |
