Minnesota Wild opened their season with a win in the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Both teams started carefully the Blue Jackets because of Marian Hossa and Alex Tanguay and the Wild because it was their coaches first game as a headcoach in the NHL. Marek Zidlicky tooked a high sticking penalty but Blue Jackets weren't able to score on their powerplay. The second period started with a lot of penalties and Marc-Andre Bergeron scored with a slapshot from the point after five minutes of play.Ten minutes after the first goal Minnesota's captain Mikko Koivu got a 2-1 attack with Owen Nolan.Nolan scored from Koivu's pass and the game was 2-0.In the last minute of the period Andrew Brunette founded Pierre-Marc Bouchard free and passed it to him and Bouchard scored with two seconds remaining. The last period was just playing for Wild and Boogard fought with Mike Commodore and ''Boogie'' won the fight.12 seconds later Derick Brassard scored to make it 3-1 ,that was the final score.
