Re: Dynamo Moscow and the New KHL (NHL 09)

FROM THE WIRE

The fallout from Dynamo Moscow's 7-3 loss to Djurgarden IF continues as Sovetsky Sport reports forwards Linus Omark and Igor Makarov as well as defensemen Daniil Markov and Alexei Semenov will be healthy scratches for the team's upcoming game against HC MVD.

A returning Mattias Weinhandl will fill one of the open spots with Anton Krysanov, Pavel Valentenko, and Andrei Plekhanov filling the others. It will be the season debuts for Valentenko and Plekhanov.

Also, backup goaltender Vitaly Eremeev will start in place of Mikhail Biryukov.

Re: Dynamo Moscow and the New KHL (NHL 09)

DYNAMO SENDS VYSHEDKEVICH TO NEFTEKHIMIK FOR DROZDETSKY

Alexander Drozdetsky

With forwards like Linus Omark, Igor Makarov, and Leo Komarov (just to name a few) struggling, Dynamo Moscow made a deal to bring in some depth to the position, essentially creating an open challenge for precious ice time. That forward depth comes in the way of Alexander Drozdetsky who was acquired from Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk for defenseman Sergei Vyshedkevich.

Drozdetsky, a 28-year-old 3rd round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2000, will return to his native Moscow where he has previously played for Spartak Moscow as recently as last season. While expectations for Drozdetsky are not very high, he should be able to find some bottom-6 minutes for Dynamo and could rise up the lines like Vitaly Yachmenev has done, if he can find a scoring punch that has seemed to elude almost all but the top line players for the club.

To acquire Drozdetsky, Dynamo had to ship off the reliable Sergei Vyshedkevich who has spent his entire Russian career with the club. Vyshedkevich also has some NHL and AHL experience. However, the 35-year-old had not cracked the line up this season and when it was clear Dynamo was focusing on a youth movement in to accompany the already solidified veteran spots, Vyshedkevich asked to be traded so he could find playing time. He will get that chance on a Neftekhimik team in need of defensive help if they hope to grab a playoff bid.

Drozdetsky could see ice time with Dynamo as soon as their upcoming game against Vityaz Chekhov as the lines for the Moscow club are in a state of constant reorganization for the time being.
