That lineup could probably win a Stanley Cup IRL.

Funny to see Avery back in Hartford (he played for the Wolfpack briefly in 2009), but having Clutterbuck and Downie on your fourth line is simply awesome. Can't wait to see what the Whale can do.

He's going to be after Guerin retires and Koivu's contract is up. Hal Gill is an altrenate for when Koivu gets injured (note how I said when), and Green for when Kovy is hurt. Koivu will be the C when Guerin is out, Kovy the A and Gill the A, Green the altrenate.

Khabibulin

In what can only be described as a goaltending clinic, the Edmonton Oilers and Hartford Whalers combined for a total of 6 goals -- on more than 80 shots.

The first ever goal scored against the Whalers was by Sam Gagner in the first period. The game stayed at a 1-0 score until Taylor Hall scored his first NHL goal in the third period. 2-0

Nikolai Khabibulin played the puck outside of the trapeziod and the Whalers had a powerplay. Stephen Weiss won the faceoff and quickly snapped it back to Hal Gill. Gill passed it up to Lee Stempniak, who deked his way to the slot and took a wrister. It hit off of Khabibulin's blocker and deflected in the net. Ladies and gentlemen, your first ever Hartford Whalers goal!

Then the Oilers scored two quick goals and the score was 4-1. Somebody took a penalty and the Whalers were back on the powerplay with less than a minute to go and Vokoun pulled, so it was a 6-on-4. Mike Green took a hard slap shot from the point off of the faceoff, but the Bulin Wall stopped it with his pad. Andrew Cogliano took the puck and shot it up ice. It hit off of the post and went into the empty net.

Whalers lose, 5-1
