Lehner has been phenomenal in the playoffs and just about ready to make the jump to the NHL. I am pretty sure he will split the goaltending duties with Anderson next season.

ALFREDSSON CALLS IT QUITS AFTER 17 SEASONS

June 17th, 2012

A week before the Rookie draft, a tearful Daniel Alfredsson held a press conference at Scotiabank Place. In it, Alfredsson cited growing health concerns and a nagging injury as a reason he decided to hang up the skates. The blow is a shocking one as Alfredsson still had 2 years remaining on his contract. As the NHL's longest serving Captain (12 years), he often lead by example. Often a candidate for the Frank Selke or Lady Byng, Alfredsson often lead his team in scoring while taking very few penalties. Selected 133rd overall in the 6th Round of the Draft, Alfredsson defied his critics early on by going on to win the Calder Trophy, the first post season award for the new era of the Ottawa franchise. Since then, Alfredsson has lead the way and been a staple on the Senators first line.

Recently Alfredsson became the 74th player to reach 1,000 NHL points, and although the Stanley Cup has always eluded him he did capture Olympic Medal Gold with Sweden in 2006. Alfredsson had his swan song at this years All-Star game when he and 3 other Senators were voted in by fans to make the team. Alfredsson was also further honored by being named team Captain. After his press conference there was a closed door meeting between management and players, with many players coming in to pay respects to their long serving Captain; who they often affectionately referred to "MIN KAPTEN".
