Detroit also announced that they have trade defense man Joanthan Ericsson and a 2012 4th rd pick to Montreal for their 2013 3rd rd pick. Ericsson lost his spot on the blue line beating out by Quincey, rookie Smith and 2nd yr players Kindl.

The team also decided to give rookies Brendan Smith and Gustav Nyquist a longer look with the team.

A little surprising is that Justin Abdelkader well be centering the 4th line, mostly playing on the left wing he will now center the 4th. He was a little surprising but with the play and speed that Jan Mursak showed during pre-season the club felt it would be better for the team that Abby on the 4th and Mursak in the lineup.

Also making the team is Chris Conner, signed as a free agent after spending last season in Pittsburgh. Conner came in knowing he would have to impress the Wings to earn a spot. He is another speedy forward, but also small.

The team will get their 1st real look at their lineup when they face the Senators on opening night.
