I want to start off by thanking you for atleast taking a look at my new Tampa Bay Lightning Be A GM! I plan to try and post semi-daily, so keep checking up on new updates to the thread. I'm a college student who also works a part time job, but I'll play mostly at night and post "in-game" weekly/bi-weekly updates during the day. I'm really looking forward to taking control of the Lightning and putting my own spin on the team (within realism of course) to return the Lightning back to their 04' Stanley Cup shape.

Tampa Bay, FL - Surprising news coming out of the Tampa Bay Lightning camp today, as Steve Yzerman announced he will be returning his family back to the Motor City to take the GM role of the Detroit Red Wings. The role was left vacant by Ken Holland as he decided to retire with Nicklas Lidstrom this off-season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning GM role will be filled by up-and-coming Hayden Gray. After getting his minor league career cut short by an unfortunate back injury, he has found his way working up through the management ranks. He was the assistant GM of the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings, and after a successful season by management regards and catching the eye of Tampa Bay Lightning Jeff Vinik. Vinik has called Gray "Young and tenacious" and the "perfect fit" for such an organization.

Gray has already made a splash in his first week of running the team, trading for Mikka Kiprusoff to give the Lightning a strong goalie who has been proven in the league. The Lightning gave up a 2nd round draft pick, aging top-4 defensemen Eric Brewer, and third string goalie Mathieu Garon. The addition of Kiprusoff will allow high-potential Anders Lindback to study the ways a veteran goalie can provide for the team.
