Post-Lockout NHL- Quebec Nordiques BAGM (NHL13-PS3)

THEY'RE BACK!
Ils sont retournés!

After a tumultuous summer which saw the firing of Gary Bettman and most of the NHL head honchos, we're nearly ready for hockey.

All that remains before the start of the 2012-13 NHL season is the player dispersal draft. The draft will feature 32 rounds, giving teams more than enough players to fill out their NHL rosters.

The salary cap has been eliminated, and there is no hard cap for individual player salaries. $450K is still the minimum contract in the league.

Quebec have been awarded a new team, which will take over the spot of the New York Islanders in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team will play at the Colisée Quebecor, or Quebecor Coliseum, with a seating capacity of 20257, making it the third-largest arena in the NHL.

The player dispersal draft is September 8th, and will be held in New York, NY.

The General Manager of the new franchise is unknown Carlos Verde, formerly the GM of the WHL Swift Current Broncos.

The new head coach is Bob Hartley, formerly of the Atlanta Thrashers.

GAMEPLAY DETAILS
Sim-Only
5 minute periods
Will control every aspect of team (free agents, trades, waivers, lines)
Plan to report every 10 games

I'm very happy with my core roster. I probably won't challenge for a cup in my first few seasons, but the final seven or eight picks ensure that as long as I sign everyone, my team will be stacked in 3-5 seasons. My roster has five 4.5 star potential players and eight 4-star potential players. Team is looking good.

Opening Night 2012

First off, I'd like to mention how kick *** my pre-season was. I know it's completely unrelated to regular season play, but the team went 4-0-0 while scoring 22 goals and allowing just 5. Pretty impressive stuff. Ryan Callahan scored 7 goals, is he breaking out of his second-line mold? Let's hope so!

Definitely a tough loss on opening night, we almost had the comeback! Niklas Bergfors just came out of nowhere and ripped. I'll have the lines up next!

Things have been up and down through the first month, we started 1-3-0, won three in a row, and had lost 4 in a row coming into the game with Carolina below. Jaro Halak had been saving my D in goal.

Things aren't really headed in the right direction, and while my boss wants me to make the playoffs this year (yeah right), it's probably not in the cards. Give me a year or two, and then I'll start beasting. Evgeni Malkin is leading the team with (wait for it) - THREE goals! He's also surprisingly leading the team in PIMS, maybe a testament to my lack of grit? Who knows. Things gotta turn around soon though, otherwise Quebec could be saying A plus tard (see you later) to coach Bob Hartley!

It's really amazing what a group of guys can do. Despite having Matt Moulson (2 weeks), Wojtek Wolski (3 weeks), Ryan Ellis (5 weeks) and Jaromir Jagr (6 weeks) all out of the line-up, the team has managed to keep its head above water! Evgeni Malkin has picked things up nicely (9G) to lead the offensive charge, and Jaro Halak continues to stonewall the opposition.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the way things have gone. The month of November hit us with the injury bug pretty hard, but Evgeni Malkin led the charge offensively and Jaroslav Halak backstopped us to some key victories. Maybe this season isn't a write-off after all...?

I'll be simming to the All-Star Game!

What a run it's been! The team is on FIRE! The month of January saw us go 7-2-0, including a five-game winning streak going into the break.
