Dem Canes.
Alexander Semin and Tuomo Ruutu both scored goals to lead Carolina over the last placed Columbus Blue Jackets.
Overall, the Canes have struggled mightily lately, losing their last five games, and being shutout in the last two.
"That's why this was huge, huge for us," Muller said. "A couple of things have happened. The second period of the Boston game was the worst hockey I've ever seen a team play. To come back and be able to flick a switch and as a group, get 20 guys focused on an idea, that's really good leadership in that room.
Steve Mason kept the game from being blown out, stopping 32 of 34 shots.
The Beejays were also playing the game without key forward RJ Umberger, they have now started the season with 7 losses.
Carolina took a 2-0 lead after one period. Ponikarovsky began the scoring when he beat Bryzgalov at 13:42 with help from LaRose.
Jokinen had worked his way down the right side of the Blue Jackets' zone and as Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski tried to anticipate a pass, he committed too early, and was out of position in front of the net. LaRose flicked a pass underneath of Wisniewski to the uncovered Ruutu, who had a wide open net.
Late in the first period, Semin put on a nifty spinning move, muscling by the defense and jammed home his ninth of the season at 19:45 of the period.

After an outstanding career spanning over a decade, Martin Brodeur could be content to sit out the rest of his contract.
Instead, Brodeur has continued to be one of the Devil's key players.
Brodeur had a 39 save game to lift the Devils past the Hurricanes 3-2.
Eric Staal opened the scoring right off the bat, scoring on a well placed wrist shot 16 seconds in.
Five minutes later, the Devils tied it when Clarkson redirected a slapshot by Marek Zidlicky. The fans were left in a state of anticipation as the goal was under review by officials for more than five minutes.
It was later ruled that Clarkson deflected the goal with his stick below the crossbar and the replay was inconclusive to overturn the goal, the second of the season for Clarkson.
"Of course, any time you have to wait that long, there's some doubt," Clarkson said. "They looked at it for a very long time, so I guess it was close. I'm just glad it counted. I thought at one point maybe my stick was high, but I then thought it was a good goal."
Henrique gave the Devils the lead at 4:52 of the second period with his second goal of the season.
Clarkson won the faceoff in the Carolina end and pushed the puck back to Henrique, who fired it past Ward for the go-ahead goal. It was the second point of the game for Clarkson
Brodeur made a sensational sprawling save with 14 minutes left in the second period, keeping the Devils' lead 3-2.
Patrick Elias skated around the back of Carolina goaltender Cam Ward and slid the puck under Ward for the Devils' victory.
Kirk Muller was disappointed that his team lost for the third straight time.
"It's tough to take," Muller said. "We've had a tough go the last few games. We competed tonight the way we wanted to, but things didn't go our way. The other games were different, because we didn't play hard enough. Tonight, we get back to our game, play well and still come up short. It's a game that could have gone either way and it didn't go our way."

This is umm.. interesting? A Jets fan doing a Canes dynasty haha. I will continue to follow, though. Good stuff so far, minus all the games you probably should have won. I'm interested to know what your settings look like?
