Recreating a true dynasty - Montreal Canadiens Dynasty

After years of disappointment and the Canadians just not living up to their history, fans become restless. Realizing this ownership has no choice but to fire Marc Bergevin and search for a new general manager. Just days before the start of the preseason the Canadians call a press conference, everybody speculating who the GM will be. Names of former coaches, GM's and players but there seems to be a bit of confusion as the Canadians name a completely unknown man as their new GM, introducing David Maclean, a former minor league hockey player that had to retire do to injury.

The press conference seems to go as the typical one does, with only two noteworthy statements coming from the new GM. Which makes all the fans a little curious to see exactly what he will do with this team.

David Maclean:

"I am tired of general managers thinking the name on the back of a jersey gives players the right to have sub-par and average careers when they should be better and I won't tolerate that here"

"If a player in the final year of their contract is not living up to expectations and does not have a good reason for it... if it means trading them or just not resigning them... they will not stay here"

Almost immediately after the press conference everybody is speculating on who the new GM could be talking about... and the upcoming UFA's getting a lot of focus. Making fans wonder about pending Free Agents like Markov and Subban, and key players like Gionta, Pacioretty and star goalie Price.

After a pretty average preseason going 4-1-2 the Montreal Canadiens are ready to begin what they hope is a successful year and the start of their climb back to being the great franchise they once were.
