Re: VEGAS BORN - A EHM Vegas Golden Knights Dynasty

I just picked up NHL25 to play online with my friends, and I'm resisting all temptation to start another Franchise. Hahaha. I plan to keep this Sim for at least another 10 years in Game.

I haven't played too much just yet, but I'll give you an honest review when I do. Will probably have to tweak the sliders to make the gameplay flow.

Western Conference Quarterfinals Preview: Golden Knights Face Flames in Intriguing Matchup

April 15th, 2025

Calgary and Vegas played a tight season series with Calgary taking the advantage 2-1-1.

The stage is set for a thrilling Western Conference Quarterfinals showdown as the top-seeded Vegas Golden Knights take on the eighth-seeded Calgary Flames. The best-of-seven series kicks off on Friday, April 19th, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with both teams bringing contrasting strengths and playoff ambitions into the postseason.

Despite finishing as the Western Conference’s eighth seed, the Flames had success against the Golden Knights during the regular season, winning the season series 2-1-1. Calgary outscored Vegas 12-10 across four tightly contested games, showcasing their ability to compete against one of the NHL’s elite teams.

“Calgary gave us some trouble this year,” Golden Knights captain Mark Stone acknowledged. “They’re a physical team with good depth, so we know it’s going to be a hard-fought series.”

Vegas will look to leverage its home-ice advantage, starting with Game 1 at T-Mobile Arena, where they’ve been dominant all season.

The Golden Knights enter the playoffs in a position many teams envy—completely healthy. After navigating injuries earlier in the season, Vegas now has its full roster available, including key contributors like Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, and Shea Theodore.

Vegas boasts a potent offense, ranking first in the NHL in goals scored during the regular season, as well as a record-setting campaign from Shea Theodore and breakout performances from rookie Oliver MacDonald.

“We’re in a great spot right now,” said interim head coach Bruce Cassidy. “Everyone’s healthy, and the guys are locked in. We’re focused on playing our game and taking it one step at a time.”

The Flames, meanwhile, enter the series without two key players. Ross Colten, a reliable two-way center, is on the 7-day IR and will miss at least the first few games of the series. Patrick Frechette, a key member of Calgary’s defense, remains on long-term injured reserve.

Despite the injuries, Calgary brings a gritty and resilient team to the playoffs. Led by Elias Lindholm and Jonathan Huberdeau, the Flames are capable of grinding out wins against tough opponents, as evidenced by their success against Vegas during the regular season.

“We’ve dealt with adversity all year,” said Flames head coach Ryan Huska. “We know what kind of challenge Vegas presents, but we’ve proven we can play with them. We’re ready to go.”

Key Matchups to Watch

Jack Eichel vs. Elias Lindholm
Eichel has been the offensive engine for Vegas, leading the NHL in scoring and consistently delivering in big moments. Lindholm, a versatile and defensively responsible center, will likely be tasked with shutting down Eichel’s line.

Special Teams
The Golden Knights’ fourth-ranked power play will be tested against Calgary’s penalty kill, which has been inconsistent throughout the season. Conversely, Vegas’s penalty kill will need to contain Calgary’s power play, which features lethal shooters in Huberdeau and Lindholm.

Goaltending Duel
Robin Lehner has been rock-solid for Vegas, while Jacob Markström gives Calgary a reliable presence in net. Goaltending will undoubtedly play a crucial role in this series, especially in what’s expected to be a closely contested matchup.

This series promises to be a classic clash between a top-seeded juggernaut and a scrappy underdog. Vegas will rely on its high-octane offense and depth to overwhelm Calgary, while the Flames will look to play a physical, tight-checking game to neutralize the Golden Knights’ strengths.

Game 1 at T-Mobile Arena on April 19th will set the tone for what could be a thrilling and hard-fought series. The Golden Knights may be favored, but if the regular season is any indication, the Flames are more than capable of pulling off an upset.

Western Conference Quarterfinal Preview: Oilers Face Sharks in Postseason Clash

April 15th, 2025

Edmonton dominated the Season Series going 3-0-1.

The Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are set to square off in a compelling Western Conference Quarterfinal matchup, with Game 1 scheduled for Friday, April 18th, at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The series pits the high-powered Oilers, the third seed, against the fifth-seeded Sharks, who are eager to replicate their postseason success from last year.

The Oilers dominated the season series against the Sharks, going 3-0-1 and outscoring San Jose by a staggering 29-12 margin. Edmonton’s explosive offense, led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, proved too much for the Sharks during their regular-season meetings.

“San Jose is a tough team, but we’ve had success against them this year,” said Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft. “The playoffs are a new season, though, and we know they’ll bring their best.”

The Oilers will look to continue that dominance in front of their home crowd, where Rogers Place is sure to provide a raucous playoff atmosphere.

The Oilers enter the playoffs as one of the NHL’s most dangerous offensive teams, thanks to the dynamic duo of McDavid and Draisaitl. The two superstars combined for over 200 points in the regular season and are expected to lead the charge in the postseason.

However, Edmonton will be without forward John Hayden, who is on long-term injured reserve and will miss the entire playoffs. While Hayden’s absence affects the team’s depth, Edmonton remains confident in its ability to roll four competitive lines.

“Losing John is tough, but we’ve got a lot of guys who can step up,” said Draisaitl. “Our focus is on playing our game and using our speed and skill to create opportunities.”

Key Matchups to Watch

Connor McDavid vs. Connor Bedard
McDavid’s unmatched speed and creativity will test Bedard's own offensive capabilities in a head-to-head battle of two elite talents.

Special Teams
Edmonton’s power play was the league’s best during the regular season, and the Sharks’ penalty kill will need to find answers to limit the Oilers’ lethal man advantage.

Goaltending Battle
Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner will face off against San Jose’s Kaapo Kahkonen. The ability of each goaltender to make timely saves could swing momentum in this series.

Edmonton’s high-octane offense makes them the favorite in this series, but San Jose’s ability to frustrate opponents and capitalize on mistakes could make for an intriguing matchup. If the Sharks can limit Edmonton’s scoring chances and get strong performances from their top players, they have a chance to push this series deep.

Game 1 on Friday night will set the tone, as the Oilers aim to assert their dominance while the Sharks look to make an early statement. With both teams motivated and talented, this series promises to be a thrilling battle for Western Conference supremacy.

Western Conference Quarterfinal Preview: Jets and Avalanche Set for Tight Series

April 15th, 2025

Winnipeg and Colorado had a tightly contested season series, going 2-2-0.

The Western Conference Quarterfinals will feature a hard-fought matchup as the 4th-seeded Winnipeg Jets face the 6th-seeded Colorado Avalanche. With the regular-season series evenly split at 2-2-0 and Winnipeg holding a slight edge in scoring (11-10), this series promises to be as close as it gets. Game 1 is set for Friday, April 18th, at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg head coach Rick Bowness expects more of the same in the playoffs. “We know what kind of team Colorado is. They’ve got elite talent, but we’ve shown we can compete with them. It’s going to come down to execution.”
One of the key storylines heading into the series is Winnipeg’s ability to neutralize Colorado’s top offensive line of Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen. The trio has been one of the most dynamic in the NHL, combining speed, skill, and physicality to dominate opponents.

The Jets will rely heavily on their defensive core, led by Josh Morrissey, to contain the Avalanche’s stars. Additionally, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will need to be at his best to keep Colorado’s potent attack at bay.

“They’ve got a lot of firepower,” said Hellebuyck. “But we’ve prepared for this, and I’m confident in our group.”

For Colorado, the key to success will be solving one of the league’s premier goaltenders. Hellebuyck has been the backbone of Winnipeg’s success, regularly delivering game-changing performances.

The Avalanche will also need secondary scoring to supplement their top line. Players like Cale Makar from the blue line and Valeri Nichushkin will play crucial roles in breaking through Winnipeg’s defense.

“We know what Hellebuyck can do,” said MacKinnon. “But we’ve got depth, and if we stick to our game plan, we’ll find ways to score.”

Both teams enter the series with fully healthy rosters, a rare advantage at this stage of the season. Winnipeg will lean on its physical play and defensive depth, while Colorado’s speed and transition game will be critical factors.

Key Matchups to Watch

Connor Hellebuyck vs. Colorado’s Top Line
Hellebuyck’s ability to handle the relentless pressure from MacKinnon, Landeskog, and Rantanen could be the deciding factor in the series.

Special Teams
The Jets’ penalty kill will need to rise to the occasion against Colorado’s lethal power play, led by Makar’s vision and passing from the point.

Josh Morrissey vs. Nathan MacKinnon
Morrissey’s role as Winnipeg’s defensive anchor will be critical as he matches up against MacKinnon’s game-breaking speed and skill.

This series is shaping up to be a battle of small margins, with goaltending, special teams, and discipline likely to play significant roles. Winnipeg’s home-ice advantage and Hellebuyck’s elite goaltending give them a slight edge, but Colorado’s star power and postseason experience cannot be underestimated.
