Re: Has anyone ever seen a Madden patch this in depth?

Patches are what's good and bad with video games. While its great that developers can fix things via a patch, its also bad they can ship a game with that many issues.

Its almost like companies don't use as many testers as before and just wait until people complain on forums to see what's wrong with a game. Some stuff that is wrong it litteraly takes 2-3 times to notice.

As for the original post. It is nice to see a company address all of those issues (though who actually knows if it 100% corrected those issues or didn't cause new ones). At the same time, as another poster stated, why does a game have this many issues.

If that's what you think you've proven, more power to you. Keep grinding that axe.

Bottom line this isn't something 2k should be congratulated about, or made an example of.

You realize this topic can be taken two ways, right? Just depends how you read it.

1 - EA doesn't fix/claim to fix as much as other companies.

2 - Man, look how much was wrong with NBA 2K.

I'm not sure if you're applauding 2K for listing this many issues (impressions on how many are fixed varies), or shaming Madden for not doing the same?

lol the lengths people will go to trash talk this game sometimes... Acting like long patch notes are a good thing, when they're more about making the game playable than adding content or anything. If Madden did have patch notes that in depth, it seems like you'd be one of the first people making jokes about how much they got wrong to necessitate such long patch notes. If you really dislike the game that much that you applaud another company making a sports game for a different sport with so many things broken that it takes pages of patch notes to cover just to make Madden somehow look worse, I don't know what to say. You're not proving your point, you're just showing how biased you are against Madden, which isn't going to help much in terms of helping to improve the franchise.

Looks like 2k took a page out EA's book

Yeah, but at least 2K is placing some effort towards resolving the issues in their game. I applaud 2K

Long patch notes themselves are not a huge problem. It depends on what exactly is being patched. If it is stability issues, then you shipped a bad game. If you are patching to modify values or AI behaviors that isn't a huge issue because AI is and most likely never will be perfect. Again this is a matter of scale. Is the AI subbing too little or too much versus whether the AI is never subbing in.

TL;DR- The size of the patch notes are not an issue, the content is.

Re: Has anyone ever seen a Madden patch this in depth?

Madden had a few pretty extensive patches last generation.

But 2K really screwed NBA 2K14 up, so to me a patch list that long only explains the enormity of their screw-ups. Plus, a lot of people are complaining that the patches haven't really fixed a lot of issues as it claimed to do.
