Absolutely. But development speed is huge. Imagine if the Chargers gave up on Drew Brees after his second season? The Saints would still be without a Super Bowl.

The potential was always there, but it took a while for him to find it.

But I think what we are all getting at is the ability to manage or mismanage A player to achieve, or even surpass their potential. It allows you take a little more pride in your system, coaches, and team. It's what separates you from the Raiders and Jamarcus Russell, a Lions and Matt Stafford, or a Packers and Aaron Rogers.
