Re: Bring back All-Teams
Long story short, this is why the NCAA game no longer is made.
As was said before, Jim Brown sued EA and won years ago. They didn't have his name. They didn't have his picture. They didn't even have his correct number. What they did have was a 99OVR RB with his height and weight as the starting HB for that "classic team." It was super obvious that it was supposed to be him. How can it not when you are trying to create a classic team?
You can't do stuff like that and expect to get away with it without paying the players whom you are representing. If you are not representing them, then what is the point?
We have the next best thing already. Madden has paid for the likeness of classic players and put them in the game with detailed faces and equipment that you can use in Madden Ultimate Team, and Connected Career Mode as a character. At least in Madden 25, there is the "Canton Greats" team too.
No way can they afford to pay off every single player on all of those classic teams. Or, even if it was in the budget, it isn't worth the effort. You see, if you are going to spend the time and money to track down these players, some of whom are dead and go through the legal process of getting them to agree to terms... and you had better not make a mistake and miss a single person in this process... then you had better also try and get their likeness into the game as well, otherwise what's the point? Let's be honest. No one cares who the back up Center was, but he is entitled to a share if you try to put the team he was on in the game.
