An Idea for Scouting
I don't really like the scouting system, so I thought of a new way to do it. Let's say you want to scout QB Sam Lincoln. Here's what you see before you scout him.
OVR: 65-85
Arm Strength: 75-90
Short Acc: 77-89
Mid Acc: 70-86
Long Acc: 65-82
And then every time you scout the player the range gets a little smaller based on the talent of your scout and the success of the trip. So, your scout is an A. That means he can narrow the range up to 5, but let's say he had a bad trip and only narrowed it by 3. Here's what you see now.
OVR: 67-84
Arm Strength: 76-88
Short Acc: 80-89
Mid Acc: 70-83
Long Acc: 66-81
Now you get a little better look at the guy, but it still isn't clear how good he really is. So you scout him again and this time you have a great trip.
OVR: 70-82
Arm Strength: 78-85
Short Acc: 81-85
Mid Acc: 73-81
Long Acc: 66-76
Now you have a pretty good idea of what he will be like. Decent arm strength, good short accuracy, and suspect deep accuracy. Let's scout him one last time. It was an average trip.
OVR: 72-80
Arm Strength: 82-85
Short Acc: 83-84
Mid Acc: 75-79
Long Acc: 66-72
Now you have a very good idea of what the player might be like, but there is still some mystery as to how good he will really be. Any thoughts?
