What are your best "Madden for Dummies" tips?

So, I"m finally coming back to the game after a long hiatus, thanks mainly to EA Access, and while I thought the game was amazing, I realized that I was absolutely terrible at it. I'm hoping for some basic tips and tools to get better.

My main problems are throwing IT's on offense, and just overall bad defense.

What is the easiest defensive position to play and improve at?

Does any specific camera mode or adjustments help?

Should I slow down the game speed to focus on techniques?

Is it bad to use the "Coach Calls" or whatever for playcalling?

Right now, i'm just focused on playing the cpu instead of online (hopefully I'll be up for that soon).

I'd go into skills trainer and learn how to read coverage.

What I do especially online is I user my MLB, and I hold down triangle from the snap to the end of the play any pass thrown in your area your user will make a play on, you still need good positioning though and be able to do some reading. If its a run, my main focus is containing the edges. In one of my online franchises in 15, my user MLB had 18 picks, yes 18 picks.
