Am I being glitched?

I recently played a CFM season game against another player, and I noticed that occasionally in big spots where pressure was required, the little red circle that showed which player he was controlling was scrolling through the rushers at a rapid pace, indicating to me that he was hitting the O button over and over but only staying on each player for a fraction of a second. This seemed to make the pressure get there very fast, even on 3 and 4 man rushes. Also, of course, it had the side effect of switching to his pass defender the instant that I threw it, even before the ball had left my QBs hand. Was I being glitched or am I imagining it? Is it a known tactic? Also on at least 1 occasion it happened on a counter run, causing a 5 yard loss.

Sounds to me like someone was using a controller that allows auto buttons.

Guess my question is, would this tactic confuse the AI enough to make a difference? Or am I just reaching?
