Madden 16 - A Look At Player Ratings 20 Years In

I simmed 20 years out. I chose 20 years because I wanted a league of CPU-generated players, to see how both the draft and cpu-progression looked after 20 years. I’m hoping this puts to ease a lot of the concerns regarding the amount of XP given out for games/gameplanning. Because after looking at the distribution, I believe you’ll agree that it looks pretty good for the most part.

Here is the distribution of ratings after 20 years, per position (just listing 80 OVR and greater - I'm sure there are hundreds of 60-79 OVR players). On some of the positions, I included multiple perspectives. What I mean by that is, for example wide receivers, I looked at it under three separate philosophy's to give you a sense of the different types of players available. There’s a lot of overlapp, so for instance, WR A may have a 90+ OVR in both balanced and speed philosophy’s.

80-84 = 34
85-89 = 13
90-94 = 5

32 QBs being rated 85 OVR or higher is concerning. and thats just for pocket passers. I dont see any data given for scramblers, were there any ?

With the way football is evolving and will continue to evolve, I don't see any of this being hard to believe.

You would think there would be more WRs rated higher.

Sorry, didn't get an exact number, but I did see a few stud scramblers.

Speaking of QBs, they definitely need to nerf the number of CPU-generated great QBs. There were just too many. There were so many CPU teams that had, for instance, a 99 OVR at starter and a 91 OVR at backup. It was rare for a team not to have at least one 90+ OVR QB on their roster.

If the devs did that and upped both the WRs and CBs a litte, it would be almost perfect. That and elite 3-4 defenders are apparently either hard to find or develop. If you plan on playing a madden franchise well into the second decade, I'd recommend playing as a 4-3 base defense.
