Sideline Catching Trait, Does It Matter?

Not the first time I have seen a player without this ability make catches on the sidelines. Routinely as well. David Johnson, a good player yes, but he does not have this ability yet he makes catches like this. Does working for this trait even matter? Seems like it doesn't. See plenty of players making sideline catches without having the trait. This particular catch occurred in the back of the endzone I know, but it should be treated the same. You are still making the catch while avoiding the chalk.

I would assume that the trait increases the odds of success. It wouldn't make sense if the trait was the sole determinant of whether a player could attempt those animations or not.

As far as I have seen it doesn't matter much. I have had plenty of recievers not have this trait and i have never found myself wishing that any of them did. Maybe if I threw more deep outs...
