Check out # 9 and # 3 ....... how is it again that FIFA has a larger audience when madden is out selling it ?

Doubt the info ? ok https://www.gamespot.com/articles/20.../1100-6447090/

Madden outsells FIFA...yet somehow Madden has 20% the resources FIFA gets( per Rex statement).....

Clicked through to the source research, the study was based on US data not global.

Why can't they do that?

Why is a game different than, say, a car?

Chevy turns out Corvettes every year. When they're ready for a new production model, they spend years on research and development before it is manufactured and sold to the public.

Why can't EA do the same with Madden? Meet the contractual obligation. Develop a better product at the same time.

That requires more resources, that costs more money.

The bottom line just doesn't care.

Sadly, the audience does...

I appreciate the good laugh from this post, even if it wasn't intentional, the thought of a factory recall on any given edition of Madden due to bugs, glitches or some defect gave me a chuckle.

In all seriousness though, you know the QA standards and repercussions for an automobile vs a video game are incomparable.

I agree that EA could have a more stringent QA process if they wanted to but I think they do have to release Madden on some kind of general deadline, per the NFL contract and while I agree that EA could have a more stringent QA process if they wanted to, I don't see any incentive for them to do it. Nowadays patches seem to allow cover for more "known shippable" issues with games in general.

For starters: unlike a car, unless you suffer epileptic seizures, a video game can't reasonably kill you.

More reasonably speaking, EA is contractually obligated to release a new Madden game each August / September, so holding the game to fix all the bugs just isn't an option.

On top of that, if they were to stop everything until every last known bug was fixed, the game would never come out. I venture to guess that the number of unresolved bugs Tiburon is currently tracking in Madden in some capacity numbers into five figures, if not more. It's an unreasonable ask to fix all those bugs and develop new features and polish off something that's good enough for an annual release. Any bug that crops up is going to have a cost-benefit analysis of sorts done on it to determine if it's a must-fix-now, if it can wait until a later title update, if it can wait until the next physical release, or if it can wait indefinitely. That's just life in this industry.

This is the most wrong answer to the question.
