Saints have had elite offense nearly every year but monstrously terrible defense. They might be fun. Get a few difference makers on defense and you have a contender.

Example: 2016- number 1 offense, 2 in scoring, but 27th defense, 31st in scoring allowed.

Drew Brees threw for more than 5000 yards AGAIN (and somehow didn't initially make the Pro Bowl... people are so used to his greatness, I guess)- the only person in NFL history to do it more than once, and he's done it FIVE times...

But that defense is so bad. Just awful.

Re: Top 5 teams for a anti-rebuild for 18?

I'm doing a run through with the chargers right now. They aren't a complete re-build across the board, but they are in a tough division with no solid backup QB or offensive line. Rivers went down one game and dang near panicked having to play with Cardale Jones and a poor O-Line

There is tremendous upside for this team. Seriously, take a look at the roster AND the age of the players.

The only issue with the saints in this thread is that Brees would retire soon and you wouldn't have much of a defense by then so you're really stuck with a complete rebuild anyway.

Well....I don't know that you would HAVE to go to full rebuild. Brees' retiring will free up some cap room. There are a number of solid young players on the roster as well, especially on defensive side of the ball (Bell,Lattimore, Anthony, Rankins, etc).

I think this is a situation where you could most certainly go to a rebuild, but it is also a team where you could retool with a vet QB.
