I too have them only miss the rest of that game but i get injuries anywhere from 3 weeks to 8 weeks and occasionally a guy miss the season out 40 weeks but its rare. Have a WR out that way now with the Aftershocks.

As for Murray...yeah he is a good college QB as many are and they are protected but as a runner they are not and he is so small. They say he is a lot smaller than Russell Wilson when both showed up at the Pro Football talk set so im interested in what he measures at the combine. Im not real big on him succeeding in the NFL but we shall see if the small QB is now a real thing. Will be entertaining.

Im thinking a more athletic Doug Flutie.
I use injuries at default 40 and although my team takes the brunt of them (don't see many on CPU teams in simmed games) I like the variety during my games (I play them all).

I also love to scout and use my depth players as I've found some that allow me to move on from a good player who wants a ton of money. Plus, it adds another layer of difficulty vs the CPU.

To each his own though...

Dispatches from Duval

Championship Weekend, 2020

The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't going to get a chance to repeat as Super Bowl champs as the Houston Texans defeated them in OT, 33-27. It was a poor game for MVP Kyler Murray, who accumulated many yards on the ground and through the air, but also turned the ball over three times -- including a backbreaking pick-6 right before the half. The Jags defense, stout throughout the year, faltered against Houston in their third game of the year against their division. opponent.

The game was not without controversy -- late in the third quarter, the Jags went for it on 4th and 4 and looked to get it, but the call on the field was that they were short -- a challenge failed to overturn the call, but Houston turned the ball back over on an INT of their own. In the fourth, down three, the Jags went for the tie with under 1:40 left and got it, but it was a 4th and 3 at the 30 -- potentially an easy pick up if Jacksonville went for it.

"We didn't play our best game and we missed on opportunities all day," Coach Tate said. "Kyler was trying to make plays ... guys were trying to make plays ... and there just wasn't the effort necessary to play within ourselves. Too many things were forced. It happens, and it's a very disheartening way to end the year, but we had a hell of a season ... proud of how we performed."

The Texans will face the Giants in the Super Bowl, New York's second straight appearance and potentially their first title win since Eli Manning if they can beat Houston.

Super Bowl Results

The Houston Texans are Super Bowl champions, giving JJ Watt his long awaited ring and proving the AFC South the toast of all divisions -- marking the second straight year the champion has come from that division. Houston jumped out to a 28-14 halftime lead and hung on through the second half to get the win despite over 300 yards from Dwayne Haskins and 141 yards on the ground from Saquan Barkley. Deshaun Watson was named Super Bowl MVP with 283 yards and 3 TDs.

Jaguars Mull Decisions

The cost of winning a Super Bowl? Everyone who's a free agent gets a bump in worth. The Jags have 10 players who are slated to hit free agency and four of those are major contributors: HB Fournette, DT Campbell, FS Gipson, and HB Freeman.

The Jags are expected the let each of those players test the free agent waters -- despite the attachment they have to both Gipson and Campbell, Jacksonville may be able to find better help in the free agent market. Fournette's contract demands are too rich for the Jags blood and a franchise tag is something the front office is loathe to use -- it's possible the Jags bring back Freeman to replace Fournette, but with the healthy of Kareem Hunt in question (and his inability to stay on the field), the Jaguars may completely rebuild their running back rotation this offseason.

Notable Retirements

K Matt Bryant HOU
ROLB Sean Lee NOLA
RE Michael Bennet OAK
C Andrew Depaola OAK
QB Ben Roethlisberger PIT
DT Ndamujon Suh LAR
TE Greg Olsen
LE William Hayes MIA

Coaching Carousel News

Andrew Luck has a new coach -- Mike McCarthy. McCathy lost the love of one great QB and now gets a chance to ride with another, as he and the Colts agree to a 3-yr deal. Elsewhere in the division, the Titans have gone after another rising assistant coach, Mitchell Simmons, running back coach of the Jaguars.

The Packers signed HC Jeff Womack, a highly regarded quarterbacks coach from the Giants, to be their new head man. The Bills and Vikings are still conducting their head coaching search.

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Alright, the Chargers offense is hitting its stride after struggling it's first 6-7 games. They took on the 6-4 Jets in Las Vegas and had a pretty good day.

Passing game was clicking, the running game was was working well.

The Chargers move to 8-3 with a 49-14 win. Chargers move to only 4-3 at home but are playing well.

Ill just post the stats.

Though i took a pic of the rushing stats but guess not. RB Antuan Hill had 25 carries for 110 yards and a TD. Austin Ekeler had 5 caries for 26 yards.

Almost hoping Melvin Gordon retires after this season to get rid of his contract. He is getting close to getting on the alltime rushing list but when he gets hurt for half the season, its frustrating and he has missed multiple games almost every season and is 33 now. He is on the TDs list with 107 rushing TDs.

Aftershocks after a couple of real close games losing one 38-37 then wining the last one 30-29 faced the 9-1 Rams so i was thinking being last in defense and last against the pass this was going to be a tough one.

But they went to LA and had a real similar game as the Chargers and took it to teh Rams, who are only a team overall of 79...... by a score of 42-14. This should help my defense get up the boards a bit. well maybe not as Goff threw for 314.

However, we lost RB LeVeon Pope after only 4 carries for 5 weeks. Not to worry though as i like the threesome of this team at RB though Pope is a better overall player and pass catcher but seemingly cant play a full 16 games.

Shocks move to 8-3 only 1 game behind the Rams in the division.

Hate it when that happens. Went 14-2 w/ Bolts and got beat in the playoffs in season 2024.

Yeah, it was a tough loss. But, the offseason will present me the opportunity to really revamp the defense. It's gotten old and I need to say goodbye to some vets, replace them with younger counterparts, and draft well -- I've got three 3rd round picks and I'm thinking I'm going to use some of them to move up in the draft to grab a high-level guy, but we'll see what deals I can swing.

Free Agency Recap, 2021

Last year the Jaguars walked into free agency as the Super Bowl champs -- this year they walked in a team humbled, going 15-1 and losing to their rival and eventual champion Houston Texans. The bitter taste of defeat had not left the Jaguars and the front office was aggressive in upgrading the roster, so aggressive that some Jags fans were taken aback. Here's the breakdown.

The Trades

The Jaguars revamped their roster in the near-term and the long-term, and did so by trading away key players. First up was Kareem Hunt -- still on the dirt-cheap deal he signed while suspended and with but one year left, the Jags traded him to the Panthers along with a 3rd rounder to grab Carolina's 1st rounder.

Despite Hunt's injuries, with Carolina refusing to pay out Christian McCaffrey the sum he wanted (a massive raise that made Carolina balk), and up against the cap, the Panthers traded for a star HB on a deal they'll never likely see again; if Hunt can remain healthy, Cam Newton might finally have the support he needs to lead the Panthers back to the Super Bowl.

The Jags used that pick, plus their own 1st, and LOLB Scarlett to move up in the draft with the Packers. Green Bay, much like Carolina, was watching their franchise quarterback grow more and more displeased by the day as the team struggled to attract talent -- with a glaring need at LOB and depth concerns, the Packers made the deal with the Jags.

Jacksonville now had firmly placed itself in the top-5 for a big-time player.

But the Jags weren't content to sit and wait. They traded fan-favorite Sefarian-Jenkins and a 4th to the Seahawks for Deshawn Hands, linemen who can play all over the D-line and whom the Jaguars fully plan to play at DT -- a move Hands has been clamoring for. Hands will also be up for a massive extension this season that the Seahawks had no intention of giving him, so Seattle's trade frees them from that concern and allows them to get a big-time threat at TE.

Finally, the Jags traded Marquis Lee -- also entering the last year of his deal -- to the Cardinals to act as the number one wideout for Justin Herbert. Arizona simply didn't have a veteran player who was as good as Lee on the roster and with only one year left on the deal, Lee essentially is in a prove it season; can he be as good as he was when he signed the deal? Jacksonville has steadily been moving away from Lee as a target as Kyler Murray prefers Westbrook and Butler as his primary wideouts.

The Signings

With all those trades done, key contributors gone, the Jags jumped into free agency and did so with gusto. Njoku was let go by the Browns but Jacksonville eagerly jumped on the player, younger than Sefarian Jenkins and better than him, they see Njoku as the big get for an offense that prioritizes vertical threats. The Jags bypassed signing an expensive back and instead brought back Foreman and Higdon, leaving Leonard Fournette alone -- officially breaking up the Super Bowl winning backfield; Higdon is all that remains and the Jags like the player, though don't see him as a true number one back.

Jacksonville added in WR Stanley Moragn JR. as well, to act as a sudo replacement for Lee; only 24, Morgan burst onto the scene last season as a reserve called into action by the Ravens and had a spectacular two game stretch before he was benched in favor of returning veteran Michael Crabtree. Morgan didn't attract much attention in free agency, but the Jags were impressed with what he put on film and signed him quickly to a 4yr deal.

Other Notable Signings

HB Joe Mixon BUF
FS Eddie Jackson ARI
HB Tarik Cohen CIN
HB Phillip Lindsay CIN
WR Allen Robinson NYG
QB Phillip Rivers NO
CB Darrius Slay OAK
HB James White GB
HB Leonard Fournette TEN
RG Michael Yanda TEN
WR Cooper Kupp NYJ
SS Malcolm Jenkins GB
DT Larry Ogunjobi NYG
SS Shawn Williams DEN
FS Damontae Kazee LAC
QB Mitch Trubisky WAS
ROLB Donta Hightower KC
LOLB Ryan Kerrigan NYG
QB Andy Dalton BUF
C Alex Mack LAR
CB Brian Pooole MIN
LE Carl Nassib NE
LT Dion Dawkins LAR
HB Jamaal Williams CAR
QB Blake Bortles LAC

The league is flush with talent, more so than it has been in many years, but that still doesn't prevent teams from making boneheaded decisions -- case in point, the Bengals who signed two of the top rated running backs this free agency after they added Kenyan Drake last summer.

The Bills also must be questioned, signing Mixon and Andy Dalton to contracts (Dalton is only a one year deal); their new head coach, Albert Blazer, might have something to do with that -- Blazer is a former defensive backs coach with the Bengals and clearly has an affinity for former Cincinnati players.

The free agency decisions of the Bears are also questionable -- after watching Mitch Trubisky melt down in the last two weeks of the regular season and in the playoff game against the Saints, the Bears declined his fifth year option and let him hit the free agent market -- unheard of in the modern NFL, but a move that could be felt for decades to come as Chicago has decided it'd rather take a chance on another quarterback than deal with the hot/cold streaks of Trubisky.

Chicago is expected to go after a quarterback aggressively, either in the draft or in the trade market. Other teams in desperate need of quarterbacks are the Broncos and Dolphins; the Steelers may also join that list but have Nick Foles on a 1yr deal to hold down the fort. The Titans may end up trading Mariotta if they select Trevor Lawrence first overall.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Welcomed Mike Person(OG) Luke Joeckel(OG) Ryan Groy(C) Billy Turner(OT) Christian Covington(DE) and most importantly Malcolm Brown(DT)

Sad to see both Laveon Bell And Ryan Shazier go didnt come terms with there former Head coach Mike Tomlin on a deal I could've franchise tagged Shazier but I let him be steeler nation wishes him and bell best of luck in the future

Now before draft day Steelers made a trade sending James Connor To Indy For Marlon Mack *Connor doesn't fit in my scheme* we are excited for Marlon Future on this team we are praising he will be our next franchise

Steelers secured the #2 Pk in the 2019 Draft I have to decided to welcome a future franchise QB Kyle Murray former Heisman winner myself and the rest of the organization are proudly excited for this kids future here in Pittsburgh
