One-Cut
One-Cut lets you make a sharp cut on a direction change when you’re not using
an Acceleration Burst. If you activate the Acceleration Burst during the One-Cut
animation you will get an Acceleration Burst on a direction change.

It's not a placebo on this end, but I found this in the manual, so, I'll need to go into practice mode and figure all this out again. I was informed in the forums to tap on the sprint button once to activate the one cut and quickly tap on the sprint button to activate sprinting.

At the end of the manual, first paragraph from the beginning of the manual:

ONE CUT
This powerful new locomotion mechanic lets you change direction with a flick of L
so you can avoid defenders without precision movement. Prepare to make sharp cuts
just like the most dynamic runners in the NFL!

A post from a month ago:

t's been mentioned in many places, but to sprint, double tap the button instead of holding it. Supposedly the first hit is only to trigger the one-cut. If you just hold it down, the player gets gassed because with how it's programmed he is constantly prepping a 1 cut. Tap it once, release, then hold it to sprint.

I had Tavon Austin also gassed after roughly 30 yards. Switching to the double tap, I've had 3 touchdown kick returns without running out of juice.

I'm positive. you can literally see the player accelerate once you tap sprint for the second time.

This has been my experience, based on countless hours of gameplay regarding one-cut and speed burst mechanics. You can easily go into practice mode and confirm for yourself.

I have not found that I need to pull RT twice to activate speed burst. However, i do find that this year's game puts a small bit of lag time before it engages.

However, the key point with one-cut and speed burst is this; If you make a cut and quickly pull in RT, you will perform the one-cut mechanic. You will know you've done this correctly as you will see grass fly up under the player's feet. If you continue to hold RT while running, you're player will quickly fatigue, due to the one-cut mechanic continuing to play out thus increasing the stamina penalty that pertains to this feature. it is imperative, after performing a one-cut, that you release the trigger, ending the one-cut mechanic and then re-engaging the trigger to sprint. Failing to due this will result in your player easily being caught from behind due to excessive fatigue.

Here's something I discovered. If you are goal to goal with about 3.5 or less yards and you call a running play out of Shotgun, the CPU lines up in goal line defense. Call a passing play out of shotgun and the CPU will line up in something more conventional (4-3, 3-4 etc.) In the first situation, I just audible to a pass and it's an easy TD pass every time.

My go to is calling a slant and keeping the backs and tightends in. Just gotta be patient and wait for them to shed the press coverage.
