I started a new CMF but the players are not update with the new XFactors traits. Do we have to wait for the new roster update?

I believe this is a user-only feature. Since the live books cannot be customized, I don't see how these alternate (live) books could be gameplanned for CPU playcalling. They appear, from what I've read and checked out after receiving the update, to be in the same realm as the generic playbooks that also cannot be customized or gameplanned.

Hope you are wrong. I would think that if the option is turned on with CFM, it would populate through all coaches even the CPU ones. Couldn't someone go in and look at a CPU coach to see if the "A" is next to their playbook?

It looks like the CPU uses them, if the test I ran is valid.

Here's what I did:

The update says formations were added to the Live playbooks. I checked and NE had a 46 formation added to the 34 set. I ran a pre-season game vs. them with the Previous Play option on to see if they called this or one of their new 43 sets. They called the 46 on my second drive.

This seems to indicate that flipping the Live Playbooks toggle "on" in pre-game activates it for both the CPU and the HUM.

I'd be happy to have this test refuted if folks think the logic is wrong, but that's what I found.

Now I'm confused. I thought 34 46 was proof the new books were being used by the CPU, but it now looks like that formation, which didn't used to be in the NE book, is in fact in their book and is available for formation subs. The new 43 formation is not available for formation subs and I didn't see that one called.

Someone with Twitter should be able to get us an answer.

Interestingly, the NE game plan in custom PBs does not include the 34 46 in any situation, yet it was called in my game. I'm not sure what that tells us, though.

I hope so as well. The important question here that bears asking is: even if the plays are present for the CPU books, are they gameplanned so the CPU will call those new plays? Maybe someone with PC can go under the hood and see.

I fear for any CPU quarterbacks whose RL teams might use Four Verts a lot (if there are any), but I like the concept of the NFL Live playbook thing if it works properly. Since it is essentially starting from scratch on the playbooks (meaning they created new ones), it seems like there's less chance of the old playbook problems - the AI tendencies that mess up the balance of various parts of the game - creeping in.

Edit: That is, IF this affects AI teams at all of course - I see there's some uncertainty on that point.

All I know is that in the previous patch, I carefully went thru every single teams' offensive playbook and noticed all books were finally fully gameplanned. That was not the case previously as they were not completed since launch. They also added some new additional plays so maybe that's why you may not have noticed? However, since Live playbooks are being treated like the Generic books, I can't get into them and see if new plays have stars assigned.

For now I am just going with books as is until maybe someone on PC can find a way in and check this. If EA gameplanned the Live books, the CPU will call those plays. If not, I don't see how the CPU would be able to do so. Then again, doesn't mean I know everything...

BTW, for anyone who was concerned about them breaking it again with another patch, the CPU still utilizes its special moves.
