Really nitpicky presentation: during the pre-game flyover, sometimes you will see fighter jets with twin engines and forward-swept wings. I don't think such an aircraft has ever entered service in either the Navy or the Air Force.

Honestly, it looks closest to the Russian Su-47 Berkut, which obviously would not be doing flyovers at NFL games and was never produced at military scale anyway.

And very quickly I have found an exploit - if you're playing as an owner, you can fire and hire your head coach repeatedly to get a bunch of Staff Points to immediately fill out your coaching trees. Currently just maxed out all my coach talent trees with the Jaguars in 2021 Preseason Week 1 lol.

I'll post this on Madden Voice later if it's not there already. This is obviously no bueno.

Definitely see the potential in franchise just messing around in it.

In my current Colts franchise, I told the media we had to beat Seattle by stopping Wilson from airing it out (also game planned for this), gave up 450 yards passing to him and lost 49-24.

Got a message saying “Lacking Confidence” and have -5 Play Recognition next game. Nice to get ups and downs, will see how it does over a full season.

I think I accidentally did something similar earlier as a coach by firing my defensive coordinator and rehiring him. I'll have to go check....

So when you fire a coordinator you get 60 staff points it looks like. And then you can rehire your coordinator and he still keeps his abilities. Not sure why they give you staff points for firing someone. Especially 60.. that's a lot.

So just to specify my opinion:
I have been playing madden since madden 03
I play exclusively online franchise (last time i played offline was madden 03)
I never ever even launched UT mode (in any sport game) because conceptually speaking it is exactly the opposite of the experience i am looking for.
I play on ps5

For me the beta feels really solid and i am super hyped with franchise improvements to the point that i preordered the version To play on 17/08.

Madden 21 on ps5 was a solid online franchise experience (our league still playing with 32 active users).
But Madden 22 players movement and physics looks really better.

I cannot wait for our league to start on M22.
I really do not understand any negative reaction from the beta.

Madden 22 Beta Impressions

Gameplay is more refined than 21.

QB play I would say is even better. QB’s try to buy more time, step up in the pocket, move out of the pocket. Not as quick to get the ball out at the first sign of pressure.

Also when you have a low rated backup playing at QB you will notice it big time both for yourself as well as playing the cpu. They stink. As they should. Their pocket awareness and the way they handle pressure is distinctly different from a front line starter. As it should be.

Some pet peeves though that still plague Madden:

Please please improve CPU lineup logic. CMac should never….ever be returning punts and kicks at this stage of his career. Like never.

Drive summary still bugged but I will chalk it up to “it is a Beta” and if we give them the feedback they should fix it for release.

Presentation - I hope for Madden 23 this will be the next big focus. We need authentic broadcast presentation. Player intros still missing. I think we would all want Fox or NFL Network or ESPN branded presentation. I like Gaudin and Charles.

What they did improve are post play replays. They are amazing.

This game looks incredibly sharp on performance mode….just gorgeous.

Player movement is simply amazing on next gen. A huge step forward.

I still want to play a lot more and will next week.

Is it just me or are the graphics a little sub-par? I feel like there's been a bit of a downgrade, although I haven't played 21 in many months.

But is it just me? Is it just that I've been playing too many PC games and have gotten used to superior graphics? Or did they actually downgrade them?




EDIT - Or is it that there are better settings and I haven't used them yet? (haven't even looked). I am playing completely default.




EDIT 2 - Never mind, apparently there is a graphics setting. But why? This ain't a PC.
