Madden 22 Next Gen options for buying?

Can we discuss the best options for buying Madden 22 on PS5? I am not currently a member of EA Play on the console. In the past I have subscribed to Origin Access on PC and was a member of the Premium tier so I got the full version of Madden on PC as early as possible.

If I am correct, the EA Play available on Next Gen consoles is just the EA Play basic which is like $5 per month and you get access to vault games and 10 hour trial of new games. Is this correct?

So if you preorder Madden 22 "and" you are an EA Play member of PS5, what happens exactly? You get access to the demo early and you get 10 hours of play until it expires...then you get access to the full game when exactly?

Like I said, I was always an Origin Access Premium member so I have not had to deal with trials when Madden release. I am interested in getting the game as early as possible and I think they are advertising it to be available Aug 12 with EA Play....so what version will you actually get....demo or full game if you preordered?

Also....to add to the discussion.....what about OOTB version of the game and the merits of buying a disk instead? I know in recent years Madden team really changes gameplay elements with patches (based in online complaints often) and many of us "sim" heads prefer the OOTB version as it has more realistic play often times. Maybe this will be a non issue this year but it's worth discussing.

Thanks all! Can't wait!

Re: Madden 22 Next Gen options for buying?

All good questions! Yes EA play is same price for next gen. $5/month and if you just get one month you can get the 10 hr trial plus the discount on the game so the price is like $62.99 or $63.99 after the discount. You can also cancel EA Play within 30 days and get a refund of that $5.

You will get 10 hr on August 12 or whatever the date is but then once your 10 hours are up you have to wait until release date to play the full game again. This is the big difference between console and PC. On PC you get the full game right from purchase once the 10hr trial becomes available. That 10 hour trial is the full game though, it's just a limited number of hours to play the full game.

The whole disc thing is probably for someone else to answer. The way I see it is that they fix more bugs than they create (generally) throughout the year so i don't worry about a disc. Plus on Xbox you can game share anything digital so the game is really only costing me $30 since i split with someone.

Any word if they are doing dual entitlement again? I want the next gen version but I have a number of last gen friends I'd like to play against.

From a Gridiron Notes a while back.

Let’s kick things off with a Dual Entitlement refresher. Dual Entitlement enables you to upgrade your copy of Madden NFL 22 from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost.*

Dual Entitlement is available in the Madden NFL 22 MVP Edition and the Madden NFL 22 Dynasty Edition via pre-order:

If you pre-order the digital PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the Madden NFL 22 MVP Edition, or purchase the Madden NFL 22 Dynasty Edition (available only via pre-order), you will receive a digital copy of the full game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
If you pre-order the physical PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the Madden NFL 22 MVP Edition, or purchase the Madden NFL 22 Dynasty Edition (available only via pre-order), you will get a single-use code in box, for one digital copy of the full game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yeah but you get both versions for essentially $50 each. That’s what I plan on doing considering my brother (PS4) and I (PS5) would both be buying it anyway ($130) so technically you’re saving $30 if you plan on sharing the PS4 version with a friend.

How would you "share" it with a friend if the digital purchase is tied to your single account? Unless I am missing something I didn't think was possible. If you get the physical disk version of PS4, you get a code for PS5 but it will probably require that you have the disk in the tray to play it, making it impossible to just give the PS4 version away. That's how it worked last year.

OOTB won’t work this year because a key component (Scouting) everyone is looking towards will force a download, which will include any Updates that’s been done.
