Re: New Madden 06 Impressions (Madden Nation)

The best info overall is just the simple fact that they are borrowing great features from the competition. Max passing and individual coverage audibles are nice additions, even if they are 4 years late. EA continues to give me hope that 360 version will re-kindle my love for Madden. The more features they "borrow" the better.

If they would only re-vamp the presentation....

-The new pre-snap defensive controls are damn cool. Being able to individually bump and run certain WRs is a great addition.
You were able to do this in last year's version.

-Duante Culpepper got ripped off with his vision cone. No reason it shouldn’t be up there with guys like Manning, Green, McNabb and Brady. Its even smaller than Favres. What a joke.
Not really a gameplay impression. Modify his attributes if it'll make you feel better.

You could invidually bump and run a specific WR? Didn't know that...if only the manual actually told us something.

Yep. I had to discover that one on my own. I don't know how many people I told about that on-line. I would especially do it on 4-WR sets against the Vikings. I would bump every receiver except Moss and manually control his DB.

This feature would only work in man-to-man defensive sets and not zone. But you could always audible to that set if you felt you needed it.

Defensive hot routes were what got me by on-line in Madden 05.

At MaddenPlanet.com and EASportsFans.com we have had our copies of the game for a short while and have been playing it like crazy since then.

You can shade WR's now i think thats a new part of the defensive controls.

I'm pretty sure it was in the manual, and it was definitely explained in detail in the defensive tutorial video.

Yeah, it has to have been since I always read the manual when I get the game and I was constantly putting one receiver in press coverage while leaving the more dangerous receiver with off coverage.
