Do you guys play the preseason, yes or no? and if you do, do you only complete part of it?

I actually play all 4. I'm not quite sure why, but I do.

I play all four so I get acquainted with the players of my team and try out some different plays I normally would not try.

Re: Preseason in Franchise Mode

I never play the preseason. I just simulate all 4 weeks at once and then hold my breath when I go to the injury report. I suppose I should play at least one preseason game, just to see how good my rookies are.

I enjoy playing all 4 pre-season games it create realism especially with the Injury Slider I find that I run my pre-season just like to pros.
I play my regulars for a series or two in the first game and then I let the rookies and the second stringers play the rest of the way this gives me a chance to look at my draft choices in action.

I play out all 4 since the CPU will use the 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Hey Tedknick, hows a guy some 400 miles away in Pittsburgh know about the Renegades ?

Re: Preseason in Franchise Mode

Honestly, I turn injuries off in preseason. Unlike the real thing, I want every team and every player healty going into the regular seaon.

Re: Preseason in Franchise Mode

I've always played every preseason game, just to make the franchise mode a bit more legit in my eyes. The only thing I really change about them is the game length (I play regular season games 12 min w/acc. clock, preseason just 5). The thought of getting someone injured is always there, of course, but I find it kind of cool to have that happen and have a possible unknown come in and either blow up in terms of status, or literally blow up my chances of a winning season, lol. It's unpredictable, which is probably why I like it.

One example I think of immediately was in my Panthers franchise last year in '05. The Colts lost Peyton Manning in the third game of the preseason, and unknown Cory Sauter steps in and winds up becoming an All-Pro in his place throughout the season. When Manning came back, Sauter's Pro Bowl appearance and ratings increase made him a hot free agent, and he wound up signing with the Browns and becoming their full-time starter, which you see happen sometimes in real life. I thought that was cool to see.
