100 million dollars in sales the first week. As much as the game is hated and ridiculed by so many, it still had its best year yet (in sales).

Development time and making the game better is secondary to selling the game. Selling the game is primary.

Of course selling the game is primary for EA.

Another obvious point would be that just because something is super popular doesn't mean it's of super quality.

But in reality they didn't make as much since they spent so much money on the license.
