Re: What do you expect from Madden 10?

I think your initial expectations are pretty close. I think we will see some offensive jukes toned down, but we will see more aggressive WR's. The blocking and WR/DB interaction will be corrected, but like you said, not finished.

The presentation will take a leap. I bet we get more presentation, replays, and better crowds and immersion, including celebrations.

On the franchise side, i would bet we get NFL Head Coach, or something VERY similar in Madden. Ability to trade future picks, intelligent drafts, scouting, reports etc.

According to vgchartz sales figures, Madden's overall sales numbers have been on a fairly sharp decline now for 3 years. I expect big, big changes in gameplay and especially presentation in order to try to reverse that trend. If those changes are not made, or even if they are and the sales decline continues, we may not see Tiburon making any more Madden games for EA. Just my opinion, based on facts.

Let's hope the economy turns around by August or there will be less people putting Madden on their shopping list with big, big changes in gameplay or not.

Where did they get reassigned to? So we know what to avoid.

I expect more emphasis on franchise mode. Nothing in particular just greater depth.

Blocking will achieve respectability in Madden 10, with double team blocks, chip blocks, and intelligent pulling/trapping linemen. Defensive linemen will have branching technology to improve their rushing.

Receiving wise, we'll see two ways the defenders can play the ball... in the air, or play the receiver. This is a must to accommodate procedural awareness without unbalancing the game. We should see little interactions down field... perhaps some hand fighting, but I don't expect it'll go too much beyond this. It'll be a start, not a finish.

Presentation
Biggest thing I think we'll see in presentation is improved crowd noise. I think that's where the concentration will be. At least, I hope so. That's the biggest thing ti's lacking. Crowd noise can really suck you in, and that's where the biggest chunk of attention needs to go.

Franchise
This is where I see one of the biggest leaps. I know how the guys on this team think, and I expect much improved franchise mode. Maybe not a complete overhaul, maybe they'll spend their time simply making the one that exists work, but I think it'll be the best franchise mode we've ever seen in a Madden game, far and away.

Other
I don't expect to see much else, honestly. I don't see SS getting much attention, or even online. I expect the core gameplay, some presentation, and a franchise overhaul will be the extent of it.

Oh, and we get CPU sliders back... or at least, we damn well better:P

Good, realistic list. These should also be easy to add/fix:
  • More accurate use of the clock from CPU-controlled teams.
  • Wind, rain, snow that affects the kicking AND passing game.
  • Accurate stats over a full franchised season.
  • Realistic amounts of penalties over a game or season.
  • More realistic CPU controlled punting.
  • More return options for kickoffs and punts.
  • Defensive assignments.
  • Formation-specific substitutions.
  • Realistic fatigue.
  • Nagging player injuries that limit some ratings, not all. (Sometimes during a game, sometimes for several weeks.)
  • The ability to send receivers PARTIALLY in-motion, so that you can get a better read of the defense.
  • Better player progression ratings.
  • Fumbled snaps.
No, this isn't my full wish list -- I posted that elsewhere. These are my expectations of what I expect. None of these should be too difficult to put in Madden NFL 10.

I agree Exonerated.

I do feel confident that Madden '10' will represent the new teams best efforts. They certainly haven't been shy about telling us what their goals are. So it makes sense to me that they'll do their very best to back it up. And their best is all I ask.

As far as the '06' to '09' team being reassigned...it seems as though that wasn't by accident. And frankly speaking, that adds to my feeling of confidants things will improve with a fresh team and new leadership at the helm. Not meaning to be overly critical of the old team, but maybe even EA themselfs realized the Madden franchise was in a rut, and needed new blood.
