All of this is in the process of being tuned by Josh and myself.

In a nutshell, RBK and PBK have been scaled way back in terms of progression and with the overall rating. Before, those two ratings played a major role in an Offensive Linemen's Overall.

For Madden 10, it is the Run Block Strength/Footwork and Pass Block Strength/Footworks that are the domanint factors for OL.

Thanks for stopping in and clearing that up, so does RBK and PBK have any effect on gameplay now?

Also Donny would you say adembroski's assessment of the above ratings are correct?

I'm not a gameplay guru, so I cannot speak for absolute certain, but I was told that they have little to no effect, in comparison to what the new RBK STR/RBK FTW/PBK STR/PBK FTW ratings do for blocking.

If what you say is true, than sliders will need to change along with your tuning because up to this point, the only settings we can adjust relating to blocking performance are RUN BLOCK and PASS BLOCK.

If I did have more faith in things like this, the depth of franchise mode would increase tenfold for me. Maybe this sounds silly...but at times I find myself pretending the numbers matter. That seems kind of pathetic.
I'm with you on that one.

I play a soccer management game called Football Manager and it's nothing but a glorified spreadsheet really.

I pour over the numbers for hours on end and love it!

In videogames there is no 'quick' way to assess a player so the ratings need to matter. It's absolutely vital to the fun for me.

So no, at least I don't think you're pathetic.

Re: Rating Categories, What do they do?

Why even have them in the game if they do not do anything?

I LOVE ratings, the more the better (just like sliders), but if they don't DO anything then it defeats the purpose.

Furthermore, the ones that have a larger effect like footwork from what Donny just said, why not put them in bold so people know they are more important. The ones that do nothing....well take them out OR put them in grey so well all know they are just fluff and don't work.

Just my two pennys.
