Personally, I would leave it up to random chance...that's basically how it goes in a real game. I mean no one knows what is happening under all those dudes...there's hitting, eye gouging, etc.

You could just show some kind of intense cinematic pan around the pile for the fumble, and have the possession randomly decided, but slightly influenced by the ratings of players involved in the pile > Awareness, Toughness, Strength, and possibly Ball Handling also.

I don't feel that button mashing is the best route to go at all.

Yeah I think it should be random or determined by tougness/awareness ratings.

BUT

If you DO decide to have some sort of button mashing, please explain it in the booklet and leave any meters/indicators OFF the screen. Keep everything looking clean and realistic on screen.

I agree just make it random. Adds more realism to the situation. The button mashing wouldnt be horrendous but it probably wouldnt be ideal. Just make it random with respect to the guy who got there first. Obviously the ball is going to move or change hands but i could live with pileups that have random results as long as nothing crazy happens. But hey this is the NFL, crazy always happens.

two scenarios

- First guy to the ball gets it, but a pile still ensues.
- pile up with no clear possession, and random player comes up with the ball with respect to the bottom of the pile.

i think it would be cool that once the fumble goes down, the camera zooms in. whether open field or in a crowded space (in which you would "guess" where the ball had landed).u can decide to dive (X) at or on the fumble or risk it and try to pick it up (Y). then both the right and left joysticks determine which direction you dive and your hands go to try to recover a fumble. thats just my opinion

it would also be cool that if you and the opponent both recover, there should be a way to both fight in the pile for it.

I agree, random is perfect.

It gives the game a sort of uncontrollable factor. Also, you guys should make random bad snaps, and slips where a player goes to cut and falls down...I like random things...it makes each game a bit unique.
