Some people will never understand this. I know people who are actually pretty knowledgeable about football in general who can't grasp that players are almost never running full speed on the field and that the speed at which you can change directions and react to what you see varies from player to player.

That's the point! The speed rating has to deal with effective speed, not track speed, because the game is played on a football field, not a track.

SPD, in Madden, is not 40 time. It's how fast the player plays, and that's exactly what it should be.

so you're saying there is no correlation to a rookies 40 yd time and his SPD rating?

There needs to be a FSPD (Functional Speed) and TSPD (Top Speed rating)

I have a hard time believing Harvin is 97 Top Speed, there are so many guys faster than him, but he does have 99 acceleration thats for sure.

How exactly do they decide on the strength rating?

I'm curious how Donny Moore knows that Sammie Hill is so much stronger than Terrance Taylor, that he deserves 11 points more.

Any insight on this would be much appreciated.
