Putting a player in motion

I play NFL 2K5 (obviously) and Madden 2010 for PS3. I even played Madden 2010 for PS2 for which my friend prefers over PS3 Madden.

Anyway, to the point - when I put a player in motion I want to check if the defense is running a man to man or zone coverage scheme but problem is here. Once I put a guy say Steve Smith in motion, he goes to the spot I put him in motion, why can't I motion him back to where he was as he is walking up to the spot? I think this should be fixed for Madden 11. Especially with that accelerated clock online I have no time to read the defense and make my assesment.

I've said this for years... if i put a guy in motion, i should be able to reverse him back to where he started BEFORE he finishes his entire motion. Havent been able to do this for as long as i can remember, anyways. You should also be able to put another guy in motion after the first guy completes his motion -- can't ever remember being able to do this either.

You can 'reset the play'. And he'll run back really quickly to his original position.

I noticed that as well and thought it was strange. Have they ever explained why you can't do this? My guess is they are trying to limit defense out of position problems.

Another vote for the ability to stop a player mid-motion & send him back.

We also need the ability to motion a 2nd player once the first is set. Better yet, give us a penalty we actually control and let us motion a 2nd player while the first is still in motion, and throw the flag if we don't let them set for a second.

It was stated that it was removed (being able to send man back before he reaching the other side) to help fight "cheesers"/cheaters..whatever you want to call them as there was some king of exploit when doing it.
I asked about this a while back and was told (not sure which dev and it may have been an NCAA dev question) they also liked that ability and would look into it and see if it could be brought back.

Ahhh... Thatnks for the explanation. Do you know if this was with the Madden 10 development team? Or awhile back with a previous version?

That shouldn't be a long-term excuse for not having this in the game, though. You see guys go in motion then reverse directions all of the time, and a lot of teams put more than one player in motion before a play.

Fix whatever makes motioning exploitable and get this in the game. "Everything you see on Sundays," right?
