Re: Weight and Height Should Factor DIRECTLY Into OVR Ratings

First and foremost...I agree that the archaic OVR rating should disappear forever...it is a trap rating that makes players over-value certain ratings that don't matter that much, while not taking into account the ratings that SHOULD matter, like route running, release, etc.

Second...a rebuttal, J Masta J, is an attempt to refute an argument that has been leveled at your idea, or at least an attempt to further clarify said idea. You have not refuted anything, merely rehashed your idea as "all things considered" and claim that everyone just doesn't understand it...then explain it better. Not trying to start anything, but if you make a statement like "You don't understand...or, "learn how to read" then by all means...enlighten us in other words...don't just spout the same rhetoric every post.

Third. I agree that height and weight should matter in gameplay. I do not believe it really has any place in the OVR rating...the OVR rating should be the end-all measuring stick of a players skills, whether he be 5'9" or 6'4". It should play into the "value" that the computer AI assigns when things are being considered like trades, or in draft logic. If we have two unknown commodities (ie, rookies) and the only noticeable difference SO FAR is their size, sure the GM will take the one with the more prototypical size...but it doesn't always equal success (see Desean Jackson vs James Hardy). So sure, let a GM value size more in those venues...but it doesn't have an effect on OVR in my opinion.

santana at his peak was an above average receiver lol... ray rice might become an excellent running back, but lets see him do it a few years in a row first and concentrate on remembering how quickly guys like larry johnson fall off the map completely

All RBs fall off and thats because all the pounding they take. And that has nothing to weight and height...

weight and height is not what i was responding to i was responding to the poster's claim that ray rice and santana moss are "monsters"

while "monster" is extremely subjective i think that to be labelled as a "monster" you have to have several elite seasons in a row

Yeah, there are two ways to look at it. They could make size affect ratings, or make size matter in gameplay. I think the latter makes more sense. I guess the only way to make size matter in gameplay would be to make size affect ratings...

Re: Weight and Height Should Factor DIRECTLY Into OVR Ratings

It seems to be boiling down to: Height and Weight need to matter whether or not it's factored in to the overall rating or not.

Re: Weight and Height Should Factor DIRECTLY Into OVR Ratings

There should just be a weight rating and a height rating added to the game. The OVR can factor these in, just with different importance based on the position.

Strength is overused to compensate for weight, but it's a huge part of physics they cannot continue to ingore and hope to get realistic results.
