What if Madden had a debugging tool built into it?

Would that be a worthwhile feature? And what could the possibilities be?

Madden does have a debugging tool.. except it's only in the game in alpha/beta stages as that tool is for EA's use only.

He means a debugging tool in the game itself I guess. But this thread really is not needed since it will never happen.

He clearly said WHAT IF. It's just a discussion on a what if scenario.

And on the subject of the topic I would have no idea how to use it although i'm sure lots of people would enjoy it

Well it ain't really going to happen bro and we know that. Debugging tool is a computer program that can not be installed into a video game and be used. I know what a debugging tool is. . Plus they would never put it in a game like madden anyway. I ain't trying to be mean are anything and don't get me wrong. But I'm just saying this kind of thread is not needed.

So what you're telling me is because it won't happen it's not allowed to even be discussed as a what if thing? People are entitled to have discussions about things even if we know they won't happen.

I for one have no idea what a debugging tool is but im very interested in finding out.

Re: What if Madden had a debugging tool built into it?

I think what you're referring to is some sort of "debug menu" that's typically included in old-school games for things like sound test, level select, and more importantly adjustment of various in-game constant values which are used to calculate game logic, etc. In a sense, Madden already has these typical debugging options are already available with the inclusion of the gameplay sliders; these sliders control constant values which are used in the calculations of how accurate a throw is, the chance of breaking a tackle, the chance of a catch, etc.

It doesn't really make sense for a consumer to have a full-fledged debugging tool like what exists at EA Tiburon given that we don't and never will have access to Madden's source code as consumers. On top of that, the retail version of Madden will likely never have runtime errors that force a program crash, further removing the purpose of any sort of traditional debugging tool. Finally, any formal debug mode likely would slow the execution of the gameplay down noticeably; given that we're all so used to Madden be at 60fps, this would be undesirable.
