Which Player Do You/Did You Make Into A Star?

I don't want this to turn into a progression debate.

I am curious who everyone likes to bring from 2nd string or maybe from the edge of a crappy career and make them into the role of team leader or even NFL MVP?

Last year I did this with Brady Quinn for Cleveland.

In Madden 2005 I signed Craig Krenzel as a FA and developed him into a 90 OVR West Coast QB. He was probably my favorite player I ever developed because I stuck to his abilities and it proved to be my longest lasting Franchise Mode as well. (12 years)

What about you?

Ricky Williams. I usually talk him out of retirement as many times as possible.

Re: Which Player Do You/Did You Make Into A Star?

this is mostly madden 2003 - 2006

ken dorsey 3400 yards 19 touchdowns and 12 int's super bowl win, pro bowl visit

najeh davenport 1344 yards 12 touchdowns

travis henry 2122 yards 44 rushing touchdowns

rookie running back cecil bell ran for 3123 yards and 31 touchdowns

my best single season franchise ever was using the dallas cowboys and trading for the eagles backup QB (some random draftee) and using Drew Bennet as my Number 1 WR and another random draftee named Will George, and using 2 rookie running backs and going 13-3 and winning the superbowl and not a player on offense was rated higher than a 83....

I don't know about all of this or that but I will tell you about the single greatest WR in the game that you've never heard of

Denver Broncos
WR Damyrius Thomas

he's instant touchdown.. he has a 99 RLS and is almost a guaranteed TD whenever anyone presses him

my "Tebow Experiment" would not have worked had it not been for Damyrius' spectacular touchdowns

Right now, it's Tebow. He was a project, but I have him at a point, in year 4, where he's a stud. And yes, D. Thomas helps. You throw it up for him, he'll get it.

Re: Which Player Do You/Did You Make Into A Star?

I always just try to use my role players the best that I can. A great example was Tai Streets back in the day. He was always a 3rd string WR, but he was a go-to-receiver on 3rd down, just like in real life. If you needed that 3rd down reception and "no one was open" Tai would make that catch for you in traffic. I always had faith that if he caught a pass before the 1st down marker, he could make a move and/or break a tackle and get that first, and most of the time he found a way to do just that. I would often have a 3rd down conversion percentage over 60%. That's winning football.

These last few years I have been using 49ers backup TE D. Walker. While we have a new rookie TE built for run blocking instead of receiving, I still use Walker a lot. He is only a 66 OVR or so, but he is also reliable in the clutch when Crabtree and Davis are covered. He also finds a way to shake a defender and/or stretch out/fall forward for the first. I have had some nice drag routes late to him where he turned up field, threw a stiff arm and scored.

Not exactly what you were asking for, but that's how I play. I try to spread the ball around and I try to take a mental note of who makes plays for me.
