If you are just talking about hard it tackles, I agree with you. The part where you mentioned "guts being smashed in", I didn't know how vicious you meant.

lol no I didn't put it that way to emphasize the viciousness of it, i meant to emphasize the part about 2 defenders sandwhiching one bc, or in other words, 2 defenders seriously influencing 1 tackle and the fact that is IS in ncaa 2010 and not madden 11.

Re: Blocking, tackling and running animations

I didn't play a down/snap of Madden 11. And that's saying something because I used to enjoy the hell out of Madden in the past and I have played every Madden game there was. And I agree with many posts in that their needs to be a new engine. I have said that a couple of years ago. I still feel the same today. But with the license locked for another year or two now, what are the chances of getting a new engine or even to improve on the key areas highlighted in this thread? You can include ball physics, and interactions of players too. It's just not going to happen. I hope I'm wrong but history tells me that I'm right, and I'll most likely skip M12 (I really dont want to).

Why does ea insist upon using the same engine when it's painfully obvious that it is not capable of producing a fun smooth game of football like older versions of madden on inferior systems could? I can honestly say that not 1 version of madden on the 360 can compare to the older versions on the ps2/xbox as far as smooth gameplay and fun factor are concerned! Graphically the 360/ps3 obviously surpass the older games but that is where it ends! It is like a fancy car with an amazing paintjob and nothing under the hood so to speak!

I was actually very close at buying a PS2 last week, because I saw a used copies of both M09 and NFL 2k5 at my local Gamestop. But I didn't get it because there is just something completely wrong about going back to last-gen to get a better football experience.

I think if they could have improved upon it, they would have by now. I hate to say it but we are probably stuck with this engine until the nest round of consoles come out. But when that next round of consoles come out, the first few years of the game will be basic, until they add features year after year. This has been EA's cycle, start off with basic features then add new ones every year. Madden is just totally stale to me, its the same thing year after year.

I know how you feel. I picked up 2k5 a couple of years back when it was $2. This was before All Pro came out. It was fun, but I was just disappointed that I had to go backwards to get the football experience that I felt was close to the real game.

Competition>Monopoly
Competition=Better games=Power to choose=Winners are us gamers!!

I've been updating 2k5 rosters since... 2004

I still play that game religiously. I love it.

I thought Madden 08 on the PC was the best Madden I played - even though it was missing some stuff, the game play was incredibly smooth. But, it was still Madden and still was lacking things 2K5 had.

I just don't understand why Madden can't equal or surpass 2K5 level on a next-gen system.

No competition from any other developer to push them so they don't need to. Look at the shooter genre. Loads of shooters to choose from from KZ3 to Crysis 2 to Black Ops, to upcoming shooters to hit like Socom, BF3. Regardless of which one you may like, the point is you have a choice of which one to go for and with that, all gamers win. Here, there's only one NFL game, one choice, and you either buy for what it is, or don't.
