An example of what will happen... take the Roman Empire for example: Julius Caesar was the best and well known Emperor of Rome, after him the other Emperors were all flunks and Rome eventually would fall.

Lets learn something about our world history when having a successful Empire, what happens when you give the control to someone else.
Julius never even became an Emperor, but the point of your metaphor still stands.

Caesar was given most of his power by the quasi-democratically elected senate, and was almost universally popular with the people of Rome. After his assassination, the very men who killed him were either killed or forced to flee by the people.

Re: Guys, i'm worried.

I just hope you can once again get some acting gigs in Superstar mode.....

Seriously though, I love Dynasty/Franchise, but Superstar mode is a complete joke in Madden 11. Years ago it was perfectly fine, but now it's a crap view and no features or any depth. Why?

Plus deeper (or at least more atmospheric, like the old chat radio) Madden 12 franchise would be of course appreciated too

I wounder if when they went into the PS3/360 gen they fired their "creative idea" guy and hired a "debbie downer" guy instead?

Ian had a big hand in the direction of Madden 12, but other posts are right. There are a lot of people involved. Cam, for instance, is a great addition that's going to help us keep this momentum. Ian deserves a lot of credit, but his departure doesn't change what we're working toward.
the fact that you're now on the team is a good sign that this franchise is on the right track. i've read a lot of your posts and you really seem to know the game of football. plus you're new, so you won't have that "burned out" effect that a lof of the people at tiburon have to be feeling at this point. i don't know how you could make madden for more than a couple years and not be sick of it.

that opinion comes from someone that bores quite easily. just thought i'd throw that out there. i'm sure other people would feel differently. perhaps the challenge of trying to best their previous efforts would be motivation enough to continue.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

This thread is funny so many people is jumping in this post 99% of the people replying have no clue of what's going on at EA and what Ian's tasks at EA was. Did we all just miss adembroski post on the first page? im not hear defend anyone or point the finger because we all don't know who is main reason for this. Ideas was created and poorly done so I blame the team as a whole for the downfall. If you going to bring in new features (even if its not what us fans have ask for) make sure they work right. All us fans can do is hope the madden game is going the right direction.

Am I the only one who got confused reading this, especially the second half? Not because I don't understand it, but it seems almost random to me.

He's addressing how people are inventing ideas as to the impact Ian Cummings had on the Madden franchise, and where blame should be placed. He's saying that it was a team effort that implemented the recent Madden games, and it's the team as a whole that should receive praise/blame, not just Ian.

I'm not pulling either way, but just saying, I think Ian's title was Creative Director or some kind of director. We all know it's a team effort, but someone is put in charge to lead the rest of the indians. And weather they are lead off a cliff or on to great things is all due to who is leading that direction. Just saying.
