Are you a run or pass first team?

I run to setup the pass, but if you show me your run defense is garbo I'll play smash mouth. If you can't stop the pass I'll go Patriots offense on ya.

Depends what team you use.

If you're using the Packers its probably Pass first. With that deep Recieving core and of course MVP Aaron Rodgers, you can throw anywhere on the field and be successful.

49ers probably Run first. With an elite Defense and a great running back you play great defense and run the clock down with the occasional play action passing with Alex Smith.

Also, you should cater to your roster. Like having a rookie quarterback with not a lot of weapons, you can run it more/first.

Just think about the strengths of your team and you'll figure it out

Being a Pats fan I'm a pass first team.

As you can see by this thread, many are run first and thus expect run first attacks. You can usually catch an opponent off guard with an opening drive TD early on. This is very key to my strategy in Madden because I

A) Put them on their heels defensively, immediately make them afraid of the whole field.

B) Puts them off their game offensively as many Madden players react poorly to being down points regardless if it's still the first quarter.


If a team doesn't react early and thinks my pass attack is a one off, I can usually get them a 2nd time which will then just further my strategy and really put a kink in their plans.


Now of course I strictly play in my OF, so my opponents know me all too well over the past 3 years and I need to be more creative than just this, but any new opponents get a taste of this for sure.

It's a very strong approach to a strong running team too, cause if you force someone to pass who doesn't usually, it's usually a easy rout.
