Same with defence; if I create a coach for a team that runs the 3-4, but I want to run the 4-3, how would I change it? Would I just edit all the preffered player types?

2) This question is tough to word but I'll give it a go. Essentially if a player is not in the scheme he prefers, or is not the player type the team prefers, is their a spectrum of how much his rating takes a hit as some schemes are closer to others. For example, let's say a player is a one-cut back. That is obviously closer to a speed back than a power back. So if he went into a system that prefers speed backs, would his rating take less of a hit than if he went into a system that prefers power backs?

Thanks!
First question is kind of unknown. Right now everyone is having a problem changing the overall scheme, mainly because there isn't a way to change your offensive or defensive schemes. You can only change your position schemes. Many people believe that by changing those, the overall scheme should change, others believe that the overall scheme will change over time as you get the right people. Either way, the overall scheme is bugged, as the scheme page gives you the default schemes for that team, and your coach scheme will say West Coast Offense Spread Defense.

The second question is worded nicely, and the answer is yes. Each position scheme gives the attributes different weights towards the overall. So, speed might be 50% of the speed backs overall, 40% of a one cut backs overall, but only 10% of a power backs overall.

One of the slightly depressing things that crossed my mind while reading this thread is: does it at all matter? Is this game functioning on a level that would actually make a 6'2" 240lb. DE a liability on a 3-4 team? Our position preferences, as far as I can tell, only affect an arbitrary overall rating. The players still perform exactly the same on the field as they would on any team. Is the whole scheme thing anything more than window dressing?

I would give it a yes and a no answer. First, we all know that line play needs work, so there it may not matter as much as it does for say the defensive backs.

Another thing is, play calling. If you prefer man to man corners, you better call more man defense to take advantage of your corners, otherwise they will get shredded in the zone.

So, I would say it works for some positions, and it doesn't work that well for others.

You're not wrong at all. I guess my original statement was intended to illustrate how this problem could have "potentially" been missed. I know the gameplay guys worked their butts off this year and did a hell of a job. Same with the CCM guys. But the fact that it works perfectly when you sim just stood out to me.

But you know what they say... Rome wasn't built in a day right?

I also agree with the order and decorum statement. I did over exaggerate.

Re: Changing Position Types in CCM

Bumping this thread up to the top.

I am seeing the issues described in this thread (custom settings in Strategy > Schemes menu getting reset upon doing just about anything) when playing an Offline Connected Careers Mode file.

I am not seeing the issues described in this thread when playing an Online Connected Career Modes file, except for when the "Start League" option is pressed.

I just ran a test where I started an Online CCM, started the league, played practice, played a game, advanced a week, simmed a practice, simmed a game, and advanced another week; after each step, all my scheme settings were preserved (except after the "Start League" step, which I mentioned above). I did this as both an active NFL coach (Jason Garrett) and a GameFace coach (myself).

For that matter, I also do not see my team offensive and defensive schemes showing up as "West Coast" and "Spread" (respectively) when playing an Online CCM as a GameFace coach; these options appropriately set based on my playbook of choice.

You all might try changing your Connected Career Modes games to Online CCMs to see if you can replicate these results. I want to make sure I'm not going insane here.

sounds like they implemented a "patch" for some of the issues for online ccm. there was someone in the thread that talked about ovr for incoming rookies showing up in the team needs menu bug not being there for online and they have also doubled scouting points for online as well.

I know Looman said that they didn't have to put out a patch to tune XP for online CCM so that may not be the only thing they didn't have to patch to get working right.

Can anyone else confirm this? This would be huge.

Re: Changing Position Types in CCM

I can confirm that CM Hooe is correct. The issue with player schemes DOES NOT exist in an Online CCM.

The coaching schemes are also showing up correctly in the My Goals section.

I've noticed that a few things were different like experience gained, scouting points, etc. My guess is that since it is online they can patch it without going through Microsoft and Sony since all the data is stored on their servers.

The offline is probably going to be fixed in the Sep. 11 patch.
