It's a brutal process but I hope you stick with it. I still play the old teams on 2K5 from time to time but would love to see them on a next gen platform like Madden. I don't envy you but I know you'll do a great job. Because of your effort, I'll have to throw $60 in EA's pocket!

Being a huge Falcons fan I went back and look through the team I think this would be the perfect Falcons team. I hope this helps at all and if you need any help looking up information let me know.

QB- Steve Bartkowski, Chris Miller, Chris Chandler

RB- Gerald Riggs, Williams Andrews, Warrick Dunn

FB- Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, Bob Christian

WR- Terance Mathis, Roddy White, Alfred Jenkins, Andre Rison, Michael Haynes

TE- Jim R. Mitchell, Alge Crumpler, Tony Gonzalez

T- Mike Kenn, Bob Whitfield, George Kunz, Todd Weiner

G- R.C. Thielemann, Bill Fralic, Kynan Forney, John Scully

C- Jeff Van Note, Todd McClure

DE- Claude Humphrey, Jeff Merrow, John Zook, Patrick Kerney

DT- Mike Lewis, Travis Hall, Don L. Smith, Jonathan Babineaux

OLB- Greg Brezina, Dan Hasen, Joel Williams, Al Richardson

MLB- Jessie Tuggle, Tommy Nobis, Keith Brookings

CB- Rolland Lawrence, Bobby Butler, Ken Reaves, Ray Buchanan, Deion Sanders

FS- Tom Pridemore, Ray Easterling

SS- Ray Brown, Frank Reed

K- Morten Anderson
P- John James
KR- Allen Rossum (CB)

This brought alot of memories back from the days that my Falcons were really bad...LOL...But I think it would be great to play with them on Madden.

Yea, this is great, thank you. I have a lot of these guys on my radar. I'll be sure to get them all in.

all decade teams and all that are really cool as well as all time franchise teams, but for my roster set i will be concentrating on every franchises best team that they ever had. there seems to be enough people working on all time franchise teams, so im going to concentrate on a all time single best teams roster. i actually like this better even though it is cool to play with all the all time greats on one team because the single year teams like the 92 cowboys or 85 bears, those were actual teams that were put together. when u do an all time team where u mix all these players from different eras on one team then those are more like fantasy or dream teams. sure theyre fun and everything but just not a realistic team at all since they wouldnt have many weaknesses at least on paper. the point i was trying to make with soley using the av to factor an overall rating is that you still need to figure his individual ratings to match the player. i can personally do this with reasonable accuracy for players that i know, but i will be using those roster makers from 2k5 to assist me. i am considering using a combination of the two actually, so that i would use 2k5 ratings to specify the number to give for individual ratings and then tweak them to fit the overall needed from the chart.

well i made some all time greats and watched them play on cpu vs cpu using what is mostly playmakers sliders. watching jim brown run just wasnt that exciting honestly. i tried it with the browns at home and they were just stuffing him, i then tried it with the browns as the away team and he was gaining yards but didnt look like jim brown should and i have him at 99 on alot of attributes. i wonder if its because of the slow speed that im playing at. but as far as the visiting team playing better then the home team, i still think that is true in this game as it was with madden 11. also i noticed that for some reason it showed the qb out on the kickoff team but when the ball was actually kicked he wasnt out there. just another stupid bug by ea. i wont even say anything about a patch because they never fix what actually needs to be fixed, the only thing their patches mean is more slider testing to get your game back to the way you like it.

i did this back in the day for Front Page Sports. It was so fun to watch the teams play. I did the league from the 50-'s to the 90's. I ran each stat category and researched every team season history and ranked accordingly. the file name was greatest.exe. if the file is still out there it would be a great starting point

this is interesting, i have never played the front page sports but have heard of it. if you could find that file, it would be worth looking at. the problem i am having with alot of old football video games is i just dont really agree with the attributes that they give some of the players, so this makes it hard for me to accept it as legitimate. it looks like alot of them just plugged in some ratings without knowing much about the players.

One thing to remember is that sometimes editors give ratings to players based on how they affect the look and feel of the players on the field. For instance, in 2K5 some of the RBs may have what is considered excessive strength or agilty...or CBs may look to be overly fast and/or agile. But to get the game to play realistically on the field and have the best known players play as they did, these adjustments need to be made.

Another example in 2K5 is that in order to combat excessive INTs, the catch rating on all def backs had to be set to 0 or extremely low. It is also impossible to rate over 1500 players realistically. There is no way to know how fast or agile a 2nd string Tackle on the 1963 Giants was. Things like that.

Rating players becomes a function of how the particular game engine performs. Another thing to consider is when you are doing cross-decade team sets, what is the baseline? Is a 95 speed player from 1958 running at the same speed as a 95 player from today? Speed may not be a good example, but would a def lineman from the 1965 Bears have similar strength ratings to a def lineman from today? Obviously not, but most editors do not use today's players as the baseline then adjust previous years to the baseline. The strongest players in todays roster might be a 95 or 99, but then you'd have to rate the strongest players from the 1950's and 1960's on a sliding scale and they might come in at 70-75%.

All in all, it is a brutal, complicated process when talking about teams from different eras, as well as knowing what ratings to apply to the lesser known players which really make up over 75% of the roster set.
