Re: Producer Phil Frazier Current Gen Interview
I know the "market is small", but that's a lousy excuse for not keeping up with basic standards. The cheapest publishers from all corners of Europe produce games with SM3.0 and other DX9 technologies. The excuse doesn't even make sense anyway, it doesn't cost any more for game programmers to utilize latest software technology. The hardware is standard now days, every videocard sold in the past year at least is fully DX9 capable.
My main beef is EA seem completely non bothered when it comes to giving their PC title some publicity. No exclusive features, no pre-hype, no after sale support in the form of patches. Outside of a few very brief fact sheet references to a PC version, EA have completely ignored its existence. How can they expect the market to be large for it when they don't give a **** about it?
EA have given up on the PC version and are milking it for as long as they can. When the "next gen engine" (still can't say that with a straight face) becomes standard, it will be the death of the PC version. The ironic thing is, the current gen PC engine is so poorly optimized performance wise, if they made the "next gen engine" even slightly more efficient, it would probably perform better on an average PC than their current one.
