To be honest, and this is probably a gross overstatement, but I feel like next-gen Madden is an exponentially pretty version of a PSX/N64 iteration of Madden.

Not sure what can be done to address that at this point either; it seems to be the way the next-gen Madden engine runs.
Well said!!

The big question is will you buy the game?? Will you continue to keep funding EA's poor efforts?

I will be waiting for/playing the demo for both NCAA and Madden. I refuse to get caught up in first day action.

Or maybe EA is not so sure at this point. Take a look at this...

Why would he say in one answer that all teams must be user controlled, but then in the very next answer use twenty-member league as an example?
You can probably have a 20 man league as long as a human controls every team...I'm guessing that the point they are making is that there cannot be cpu controled teams....Seriously, who is making the decisions at EA? They hudled around one afternoon and decided how they were going to do this online league thing, they gear up for this big announcment and no one is excited...it's hilarious. Just think if 2k was in the mix...thier online leagues and such weren't the cat's meow but at least they'd have a shot at getting it right....and a better one at that.

Re: Madden NFL 09: First Online Leagues Details and Video Clip

one positive i did see besides the visual, when brett favre was dropping back he was actually holding the ball near his stomach. it also looks like you no longer have to just let the CPU do the drop back animation. it looks like you can manually control the the QB after the snap and still get some what of a drop back animation.

i know the ball placement was kinda a complaint for some of you guys

I'm not sure why people get so excited about stat overlays. It boggles the mind. Anyway, the graphics look sharper, and I definitely like the new camera angle. It's also huge that the players are more proportional to the field, as the primary problem with 08 was the lack of space due to the oversized players. I also like the fact that there was some air under the two throws, which gives hope that the awful passing physics have been reworked. On the other hand, there's still no pocket forming, the tackle physics still look unconvincing, and the twenty yard drop is still there for all to see.

Stat overlays are very necessary. I would've never thought they were until we suffered through a year without them. There was nothing worse than having to hit pause everytime you wanted to know how a specific player was doing.

I'm also glad that they resized the players (or resized the field, whichever applies lol).

Lack of pocket and tackle animations are my biggest gripes with the video.

But, like one of guys just mentioned, at least they fixed the way the QB holds the ball.
