Still sounds like an excuse...

If you hire someone to work on an NFL Licensed game and told them to write code/animation for Lambeau Leap wouldn't you let them see a video or picture describing what it is?

sidenizzo-Tell the dude to code in Spider Webs comming from dude's hand and it will be perfect....

JK...I hope it's patched though I...

Re: celebration videos on IGN

I agree with poster above. Just because someone is amazing at art or the animations doesn't mean they're the best fit for the job, which in this case it doesn't seem like it was, since they've never seen a Lambeau Leap. Obviously nothing I say matters, and any criticism towards EA and this game is heathenism, but it's a matter of knowing the subject matter and not knowing it. Since this is the ONLY NFL licensed game we, as paying customers and avid fans, can play, I don't think it's too much to ask or hope that the people making have actually seen an NFL game before. Who's job is it to go through and make sure everything is at least accurate? It doesn't have to be perfect or 2k5ish, but at least make sure it's accurate! Whatever.

Re: celebration videos on IGN

Ian,
I really think you guys should ditch that layup animation, it looks silly. Yeah, I know guys in the NFL have done it, but they should not continue, the jump shot- OK, the layup by D.McNabb- OK, but the layup otherwise is just GOOFY.
The goalpost area could be changed to include "boxing the goalpost", the "jump and fire pole slide" or whatever!

No offense but you're speaking to the wrong audience here, 90% of the people on this site won't understand the logic you have used above simply because they don't work in these types of environments. I'm also a project manager who works with teams of designers, illustrators and programmers on large jobs with tight deadlines.

While it is easy for someone to say nothing like this should ever slip through and in truth they are right. The reality is that I have to trust the heads of their departments to do their jobs and if I had to check every individual piece of a project we would never hit a deadline. Unfortunately things like this do happen and while I fully expect someone to post saying that this type of stuff doesn't happen at their company, I won't believe it for a second.

None of that changes the fact that your team had the correct videos captured and someone made a pretty big mistake and signed off on this and you're left picking up the pieces. That is all people are going to get out of this and since interaction with your community (clients) is something new for your team I would just give you a piece of advice, choose your words carefully.

Personally I appreciate your truthful and forthcoming responses, but not everyone will.

Re: celebration videos on IGN

Yuck, that's ugly. Hang your head in shame whoever did that.

If cut scenes are required to make the leap actually look like the damn thing, that I can live with. Yeesh how was that allowed...
