i agree. Madden '09 looks to be a fantastic a game. Not an upgrade to '08, but a new game. So much has been said about the things EA does wrong with this game (and there have been many)...yet, something needs to be said about the outstanding work that I am seeing in these videos...wow!

Madden '09 here I come.

lol @ the Adrian Peterson spin and then reverse spin with no appreciable loss of speed.

My problem is that I want to play a football videogame, but instead I have to play Madden. It's like the Madden world has its own set of physics and reality what with the no-look batdowns, immediate standstill to fullspeed acceleration that make zone coverages ever more deadly, etc.

Doesn't look like a "completely new game" to me.

I'm still not sold on Madden.. Too many nagging issues that have been pissing me off for years to put $65 down on a game and be disappointed.

Serious question...what would you want to see in a video to make you feel like it's a completely new game? This will help me for next year (as well as give feedback to the people that make the videos).

Awesome man...thanks. It is easy to fall into only criticism, and when I sit back and watch these videos I do the same thing. But that one shot of the Giants and Redskins looked so frickin' amazing graphically - along with the real nice smooth transition into the "not today" animation...I can't wait for release myself. (again, ignoring the head tracking thing that someone posted earlier)

Honestly bro, I don't want it to look like a completely new game. I was just quoting the people who said that it looked that way.. I guess people are just paying attention to the presentation. Personally I like the presentation and the atmosphere.
I know you've heard many of the issues before regarding o/d-line interaction, db/wr, etc. It seems like we either have superhuman WR's or DB's.. It was a huge annoyance of mine in 08 and the fact that I just saw DB's making blind play's at the ball and swatting them away easily (which I thought was toned down after the patch??) is an eyesore.
Also, I don't feel like the players actually "play like themselves".. After watching Live's 365 feature at E3, it looks like every other sports game's AI pales in comparison (even though I haven't been a Live fan since 04).
The running animations (as I've been saying for the last while now), look completely over the top and even more arcade-ish than last year's. Maybe I'd actually need the sticks in my hand to fully judge though.

And I know it's not a gameplay issue and it's being addressed in '10, but my biggest issue is the depth of the franchise mode. That's the main thing that I play, so maybe I'll just say it so that it gets heard and some things are added for next year.
I feel like it's just stripped down and has no longevity.

I'd like to see a better scouting system. A year long mock draft big board w/ changing projected picks, instead of just the offseason. The ability to edit rosters of your team and every other team in any game mode to ensure that we can always have them updated or retire certain players when the time comes (or maybe just adding roster updates in the offseason would suffice).
Maybe add a training camp and more drills so players can improve in the offseason.. Week-by-week scouting of teams to exploit weaknesses (eg. injured RCB; focus to exploiting those weaknesses by throwing to his replacement or nonexistent run game; focus on coverage and run a certain defensive formation or personnel more often).
Maybe some team chemistry ratings and morale being a large affector of how well players perform.

I know I'm probably rambling on but It's 3am and I've got an exam tomorrow

Why ignore it?

Why not....address it?

Well the graphics first of all never change drastically. NFL2k series graphics and presentation still kill madden in my eyes. I mean how can you have a football game with no halftime show? What about a real crowd? Players skin colors are off, uniforms arent 100% right, there should be blotched snaps in bad weather, field goal blocks, goalline leaps, variety of real cleats etc. What about the lambeauleap you guys put it in? The crowd should be slapping the player as they jump with beer spilling etc. When you play madden 2008 the crowd does not change whether your playing a reg season game or playoff game. Better superbowl presentation? What about calling plays through your xbox live headset? How about a highlight reel of the top plays every sunday? Espn does a highlight reel to recap the games, if you missed them.

How about a better way to track cheaters online? Example *You have people using the titans and theyll lateral the ball with vince young as he gets hit. Every defenders goes after vince young because he crossed the line. Leaving the RB wide open to score with no defenders.* I have fun playing madden with people face to face or my real friends, but online alot of people use exploits. Look at the top leaderboards, I gurantee 99.9 % of those people suck, if they don't use glitches. Also less laggy servers?? I liked 2008 for the most part, but franchise mode could be alot deeper. Nobody cares about superstar mode in madden, so why keep it? I rather have a deeper franchise mode or a better presentation. I wish I could fall in love with madden, but I just don't fully get a football atmosphere like I did with NFL2K5. I mean in 2008 I've had the CPU make some bonehead decisions instead of taking chances or playing smart.
