Best time to use the pitch?

I've found success with this only when using slide protection to the opposite direction the pitch is going. Sounds odd, but started having them block towards the pitch side but find I get more yards and some breakaways when I slide the blocking away from the pitch.

Ditto! This is exactly how I use it... although it is particularly deadly if you have a back with some speed.
