A quick question on juking

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but I tried searching for threads and couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd post it up.

What's with the jukes in Madden 09 on the 360? I can only ever seem to do jukes that launch the ball carrier directly to either side, like he is throwing his body rather than shifting his weight and changing direction. These are ok in some situations but they usually aren't very productive. They're good to quickly get around a block, but that's it - definitely useless to hit a hole with hard.

On the other hand, the CPU seem to often perform far better jukes, particularly between the tackles, where the ball carrier darts diagonal left/right rather than jumps directly left/right. They plant a foot and launch off it without leaving the ground, as opposed to the human one which is more like a jump to the side than a juke. In the old engine juke animations were context sensitive, but I have yet to see my ball carrier do one of these jukes in any situation.

Anyone else noticed this? Is there something about the juking system I'm missing? The next time I see the CPU do one, I may make a video of it or something. In any case, they are definitely far superior juke animations than I seem to be able to produce.

Re: A quick question on juking

who is the running back that u r using? cuz i use Kevin Smith and Marcus Thomas (i think thats his name) and Smith is much quicker with his jukes than Thomas is so it could be the running back. just throwing it out there.

The A.I has always been able to do moves that we cannot do. Something I despise actually. Nothing you are missing.

The AI can't do anything differently from you...but there are 3 different sets of juke animations based on the Juke Rating of the player. Who are you using?

Not to bring this to a point of contention Ian, but are you saying the user can juke and chain like the A.I does? I just don't see it. I see the A.I juke and stiff arm and spin in a simultaneous motion when it wants to, something I have never seen a human controlled back do.

Yeah they run the exact same animation systems and controls...I don't know how easy it would be to pull off some of the same moves but everything is possible. They have the exact same 'branch windows' and animations that us humans do.

I use various teams. I've just never seen myself do these quicker, smaller jukes that the CPU seem to pull off a lot.

Well, then is it a fair assumption that the AI has a better chance to hit these branch windows? It does seem that they pull off more (and quicker) chains than we can. Maybe it's just the AI's "mad stick skills"...lol
