I've been at work until now, and I was thinking about this all day ever since I heard the news. I was hoping to come home and see a thread like this.

This needs to get done. Like many of you said, the current cover guy / guys now should gladly step down out of respect, and let EA put Madden himself on the cover. I don't see any reason for EA not to do this. It would not have a negative impact on marketing or sales in any way. (It may actualy be a boost in these areas.) It would be a great gesture of respect and thanks for putting his name on this product for the last 21 years.

They should code in a secondary audio track for commentary that is nothing but old school 8-bit Maddenisms. "He'll feel that one in the morning!"

It's not the sexiest choice but hell it may be the most fitting choice. He can also represent the improved presentation in the game..
