Re: Extremely dissapointed...

Silly thread in my opinion. Making all these conclusions about what's wrong with the game like things cannot be adjusted, a trailer in APRIL is not the end result for what we see in AUGUST. However, if that gets past your gray matter there's no hope for you anyway. The trailer clearly served it's purpose to me which was to show the game has moved in the right direction and has improved on the core components of GAMEPLAY!!!!!

Re: Extremely dissapointed...

Count me in as one of the disappointed guys. The player models for one look like 8 yr olds with huge heads. The graphics look cartoonish. Gang tackling looks more like 3 guys dry humping another dude. Im sure they game will have improved over last years version, but lets be real, this game is not the total 180 a lot of people were expecting. And I know creating a video game is much harder than a lot of us think, but when Ian said Last year, that he believes Madden's gang tackling is better than the other game, you really expect some huge strides by this time.

Lastly, for all those guys saying "chill, its just a trailer", think back at when a screen shot comes out, and there are 15 pages of comments on how beautiful it looks (we cant have a double standard when judging the game, but be completely honest). Im in no way trying to attack the game without reason, Im just calling them how I see them.

I can see why some here are disappointed with the content of the Trailer. I realize that it is "just a trailer" but my issue is some of the things I saw, or didnt see I dont feel are going to be corrected before the game drops, for instance:

Players move VERY robotic: The players seem to move very robotic and stiff. They also seem to still only move/cut on angles, nothing is really curved or circular. I can see why some are saying "it looks like '09". Just looking at the player models, and how they move, it looks just like '09. sure there may be hand towels and such, but you dont really pick up on that while the game is in action. Also, what is up with all the camera flashes during gameplay. I understand that this is supposed to be the superbowl, but during the actual plays there are a ton of camera flashes.

Aspects of O-line play seem pretty poor: I LOVED seeing how the tackle and defensive end interacted. how the tackle pushed the end upfield and such. That interaction looks great. However the Center seems lost on every play and the guards are standing around blocking no one. Its great that pockets might form, but that really is lost of the interior lineman are out smelling the roses.

Gang tackling looks poor again: While it is great that we can now have 4,5, or 6 guys all in a gang tackle, all the things that made gang tackling poor in the past still seem to exsist. For one it seems like while multiple guys are there its still just 1 guy tackling the player in that if he slips 1 guy the entire tackle is broken. players all seem to attack the ball carrier the same way, as if no one is engaged with him, instead of taking into account he is already engaged and "piling on". And again very stiff.

Momentum? What happened to all those blogs i got excited about with momentum and weight/size meaning something? Willie parker broke out of a 4 or 5 man tackle like no one was even there after carrying the pile for 3 yards.

double teams by the secondary: This probably concerned me the most. double teams still seem to have the same logic(or lack there of). It is like the 2 defenders arent aware there is a double team and both cover the WR the same way, instead of going high and low or inside and out on him or one guy tight with help over the top, etc.... This was what was so wrong with how it was implemented in the past. its just as easy to beat 2 guys as it is 1 when they both are moving the exact same way.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, im not going to say im not buying the game(although if camera angles/online franchise arent in i still wont), but I would be lying if i didnt say i wasnt disappointed with a trailer of a VERY EARLY build of a game after all i've read from Ian and company on this board.

I am sure i will be bashed as a ***** who expects the game to be perfect, but that is my opinion on what i realize is an early build.

just because something was changed doesnt automatically mean it was improved, or didnt include big issues. they changed OL/DL interactions but, at least fromt he video, you still have centers looking lost and guards standing around blocking no one. No one said anything about guys running up walls, I am not sure where you got that from. I think People's gripes are legit and well explained

I know. I mean, wow. How can folks overlook those things? That stuff is huge.

Okay, people are like, "don't judge it yet" and all that crap, but have been cracking Back Breaker across the head. You floppers need to go home. The game looks dam good, and looks like is plays well, but the flopping has to stop.
